2026 Iranian London Embassy protestor assaults

On January 16th, 2026 multiple protestors demonstrating against the Iranian government were arrested by the London Police. [1] [2]

The Metropolitan Police issued an order demanding demonstrators vacate the area after those in attendance attempted to remove the IRGC's flag from the embassy building and replace it with the colours used by the country prior to the Islamic Revolution of 1979. [3] One protester climbed across multiple balconies onto the roof of the embassy where they removed a flag and several others were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. Several protestors have suffered injuries. [4] [5] There have been reports of police officers being injured as well outside the embassy. [6] [7] Paramedics confirmed four people had been taken to hospital due to the clashes. [8]

Fourteen people have been arrested. and four people have been taken to the hospital. [9] [10]
