The 2013 Southern Thailand bombings were a series of bombings that took place in Danok, Padang Besar and Sadao, Songkhla Province, Thailand near the Malaysian border on 22 December 2013.
The first explosion occurred around 10:30 and 10:40 in the morning when a bomb placed on a motorcycle exploded in front of the Padang Besar police station on the Thai side of the border. No one was injured in the blast
The second bomb exploded at about the same time. It was also placed on a motorcycle and went off in front of the Sadao police station. Also no one was injured.
The third bomb went off in front of the Oliver Hotel in Danok. It was placed in a car and activated with a digital watch. The explosions also resulted in a fire, which destroyed the business premises, several vehicles as well as a part of the hotel.
The fourth bomb was set off in front of a shop in Bukit Kayu Hitam on the Thai side of the border.
The bombings were similar to the one in Hatyai at the Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel on 31 March 2012 where three people, including two Malaysians, were killed.
Padang Besar is a border town located in the northern part of the state of Perlis in Malaysia as well northmost town in Malaysia. It is situated on the border with Songkhla province, Thailand, 35 kilometers northeast of Kangar and about 57 km southwest of Hat Yai. The town opposite Padang Besar in Thailand is also known as Padang Besar, although the locals here usually refer to the town as "Pekan Siam" or Siamese town. The town is a "shopping heaven" and popular destination for Malaysians because of the duty-free shopping complex in between the border checkpoints of the two countries. The town attracts several thousand visitors from Peninsular Malaysia and southern Thailand every weekend and during public holidays.
Sadao is district (amphoe) on the border of Malaysia in Songkhla province, southern Thailand. The capital of the district is also called Sadao town.
The 2005 Songkhla bombings were a series of three bombings that took place on 3 April 2005 in the cities of Hat Yai and Songkhla of Thailand's Songkhla Province. They and are believed to be part of the ongoing south Thailand insurgency. At least two people were killed and 66 were injured in the explosions.
The 2005 Delhi bombings occurred on 29 October 2005 in Delhi, India, killing 62 people and injuring at least 210 others in three explosions. The bombings came only two days before the important festival of Diwali, which is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains. The bombs were triggered in two markets in central and south Delhi and in a bus south of the city. The Pakistani Islamist terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba claimed responsibility for the attacks under the pseudonym of Islamic Inquilab Mahaz. The Indian Mujahideen is also suspected of involvement.

The village was popular with tourists as it was the location of a border market, which straddles both sides of the border. However, it has lost it popularity following the discovery of mass graves of the victims of human trafficking in the area in 2015, for which it is now known for. It is also the location of a minor border crossing into Thailand.

The 2006 Bangkok bombings occurred on 31 December 2006 and 1 January 2007, during New Year's Eve festivities in Bangkok, Thailand. Four explosions went off almost simultaneously in different parts of the city at around 18:00 local time, followed by several more explosions within the next 90 minutes. Two explosions also occurred after midnight. In total, eight explosions were reported during the night.

Padang Besa or Padang Besar is a border town on the Malaysia-Thailand border in the Sadao District, Songkhla Province, Thailand. Since 2004 the municipality has had town status and covers parts of the sub-district (tambon) Padang Besa. In 2007 it had a population of 13,748.
The Rantau Panjang railway station was a Malaysian railway station located near Jalan Besar and named after the town of Rantau Panjang, Kelantan. The death of Phamon Phonphanit is about the journalist who died during a bombing on September 16, 2011. Phonphanit was a journalist in Narathiwat province, Thailand and he died while covering the bombing in Sungai Kolok. Six people died as a result of the incident, and about 100 were injured. The incident caused a public and media discussion about the South Thailand insurgency as a result of criticism over the government's initial reaction, especially the contradictictory information delivered by the military, who called it a drug war retaliation, and the police, who said it was conducted by insurgents.
Hat Yai Junction is an international railway junction and a Class 1 railway station for the State Railway of Thailand in the center of Hat Yai City, Songkhla Province, Thailand. The station is located 928.585 km (577.0 mi) from Bangkok's Thon Buri railway station and serves as a junction for the mainline Southern Line towards Pattani, Yala and Sungai Kolok and Padang Besar, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore Line.
