The 34th Kherson Regiment is a regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with patrol, reconnaissance, law enforcement and protection of Ukrainian territorial integrity. It was established as the 8th separate battalion of the on the basis of the 131st Separate Special Motorized Police Battalion in 1992. It is headquartered in Kherson.
It was established on 2 January 1992, as the 8th separate battalion of the on the basis of the 131st Separate Special Motorized Police Battalion of the Internal Troops of the Soviet Union as a part of the National Guard of Ukraine which was transferred to the Internal Troops of Ukraine becoming its 16th Separate Special Motorized Battalion on 20 January 1995. In 2014, it was transferred to the National Guard of Ukraine following it's reestablishment.
It took part in the War in Donbass seeing combat on multiple occasions. On 13 August 2014, separatists shelled it's positions in Upsenka killing a soldier of the battalion (Stadnyk Serhii Anatoliyovych) as a result of an explosion that wounded some other personnel as well. [1] [2] [3] During the Battle of the Border, on 24 August 2014, a convoy of the regiment's personnel was ambushed by separatists near Novozvanivka killing a soldier of the battalion (Maksym Volodymyrovych Baranov) in addition to two soldiers from the 23rd Public Order Brigade, moreover in total 25 soldiers were captured by separatists. It took part in the Battle of Mariupol during which on 24 January 2015, BM-21 Grad MLRS attacked a checkpoint of the National Guard near Mariupol in the village of Vynohradny. A soldier of the battalion (Mykolaichuk Dmytro Vasyliovych) was killed, another wounded, several residential buildings, power lines, and a gas station were also destroyed in the village. [8] [9]
On 31 October 2018, a soldier of the brigade (Davydok Andrii Olegovich) died from severe wounds in a hospital. [10]
During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Battalion took part in the Battle of Kherson during which a soldier of the brigade (Oleksiy Ivanovych Khvostyk) was killed on 24 February 2022 at the start of invasion. [11] [12] [13] [14] [15]
In December 2023, the battalion was expanded to a regiment, and became the 34th Kherson regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine. [16]

Oleksii Oleksandrovych Chubashev was a Ukrainian military journalist, serviceman, Major (posthumously) of the Main Directorate of Intelligence, a participant in the Russian-Ukrainian war. From 2019 to 2021, he was the acting head of the Central Television and Radio Studio of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
503rd Separate Marine Bataillon is a bataillon of the 38th Marine Brigade. It was established in late 2015 as a part of the Ukrainian Navy's 36th Marine Brigade as the 701st Marine Battalion but was transferred to the Ukrainian Marine Corps in 2018. It became a part of the 38th Marine Brigade in February 2023 which was established on the basis of the battalion. It is garrisoned at Mariupol.
73rd Naval Special Operations Center "Chieftain Antin Holovaty" or the Special Operations Center South is the naval component of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces. It joined the Ukrainian Navy on 1992 and became a part of Special Operations Forces in 2016, becoming the sole naval component of SOF. It is headquartered at Ochakiv.
18th Marine Battalion is a battalion of the Ukrainian Marine Corps' 35th Marine Brigade and was formerly attached to the 28th Mechanized Brigade. It was initially established as the 18th Territorial Defense Battalion, a volunteer formation based at Odessa, eventually becoming a permanent formation of the Marine Corps.
90th Separate Airmobile Battalion "Senior Lieutenant Ivan Zubkov" is a battalion of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces and is subordinated to the 81st Airmobile Brigade. It was established in 2014 on the basis of 95th Air Assault Brigade. It has seen combat in multiple battles during the War in Donbass and Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is also called the battalion of Cyborgs for its heroic defense of the Donetsk Airport. It is made up exclusively of volunteers.
The 15th Operational Assignment Kara Dag Brigade "Hero of Ukraine Lieutenant Bohdan Zavada" is a brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. It is a part of the Ukrainian Offensive Guard and was established as the 9th Special Purpose Regiment in 1994 at the village of Shiroky in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. It has taken part in multiple engagements throughout the Russo-Ukrainian war and is currently deployed on the frontlines in Pokrovsk. It is currently headquartered in Zaporizhzhia City.
The 45th Operational Assignment Lviv Regiment "Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Krasitskyi" is a regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine. It was established on the basis of the 10th Operational Regiment of the Soviet Army in 1992. It has taken part in multiple engagements throughout the Russo-Ukrainian war. It is currently headquartered in Lviv City.
11th Separate Public Order Odessa Brigade "Mykhailo Hrushevsky" is a brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with protection of public law and order, and after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the territorial integrity of Ukraine. It was established in 1992 as the 7th Separate National Guard Regiment on the basis of the 42nd Special Motorized Militia Regiment. It is headquartered in Odessa city.
The 21st Separate Public Order Protection Brigade is a law enforcement brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with protection of the law and order as well as the territorial integrity of Ukraine. It was established in 1992 on the basis of the 25th Separate Special Motorized Militia Battalion as the 6th Regiment. The brigade's main headquarters is in Kryvyi Rih but some parts of it are garrisoned at Kropyvnytskyi.
The 23rd Public Order Protection Brigade "Khortytsia" is a Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with protection of the public order and the territorial integrity of Ukraine. It was established on January 2, 1992, as the 8th NG Regiment on the basis of the 22nd Separate Special Motorized Militia Battalion. It has seen combat during the War in Donbass and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Its units are headquartered in Zaporizhzhia, Melitopol, Berdyansk and Energodar.
The 31st Public Order Protection Brigade "Major General Oleksandr Radievskyi" is a Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with protection of the public order and the territorial integrity of Ukraine. It was established on January 2, 1992, as the 5th NG Regiment on the basis of the 24th Separate Special Motorized Militia Battalion. It was established in 1992 as the 13th Regiment on the basis of the 26th battalion of the Internal Troops of the Soviet Union. It is currently headquartered in Sloviansk but was formerly located in Luhansk before it's capture by separatist forces.
The 27th Separate "Pecherska" Brigade' is a brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with the transport and escort of soldiers and prisoners and the protection of the judicial facilities and Ukrainian territorial integrity. It was established in 2006 and is headquartered in Pechersk, Kyiv.
The 40th Separate "Danylo Nechai" Regiment is a regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with safeguarding prisons, mental asylums, medical facilities, escorting arrested and convicted persons, guarding defendants during court proceedings, providing assistance to the police in maintaining public order and protection of Ukrainian territorial integrity. It was established as the 8th Separate Brigade on the basis of the 481st Convoy Regiment in 1993. It is headquartered in Vinnytsia.
The 50th Separate "Simon Hnatovich Vysochan" Regiment" is a regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with special purpose operations, law enforcement, anti-criminal operations, anti-smuggling operations, mountain patrols and protection of Ukrainian territorial integrity. It was established as the 12th Separate Battalion in 1993. It's units are stationed throughout Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast and Chernivtsi Oblast.
The 4th Pavlograd Regiment for the protection of important State Objects' is a regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine tasked with the protection of important strategic sites. It was established in 1991 and is headquartered in Pavlograd. Pavlograd Mechanical Plant, Pavlograd Chemical Plant and Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology amongst other strategic sites are under the regiment's protection.
The 1st Operational Battalion named after the Hero of Ukraine Serhii Kulchytskyi is a volunteer Battalion of the 1st Presidential Brigade, a part of the Offensive Guard of the National Guard of Ukraine. It is an all volunteer Battalion with its personnel being the former members of Maidan Defense and other paramilitary groups established by the Ukrainian opposition during the Revolution of Dignity. It was established in 2014 and is garrisoned at Novi Petrivtsi. It's a highly combat effective formation and has seen heavy combat during both the War in Donbass and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Myrotvorets Battalion is a regiment of the Liut Brigade of the Special Tasks Patrol Police subordinated to Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The regiment is based at the headquarters of National Academy of Internal Affairs in Kyiv. It was established in 2014 and has, since then seen regular combat on the frontlines in addition to special counter-crime operations in Kyiv Oblast.
