Route 500, or Glasgow Airport Express is a bus route in Glasgow that operates between the city centre and Glasgow Airport.
The Service has been operated by several bus operators through the years but as of 2025 the service is operated by First Glasgow.
Information regarding the airport bus link prior to operation by First Glasgow can be found here in the Glasgow Flyer article.
The service under First was originally known as Glasgow Shuttle and later as Glasgow Airport Express. The service was introduced January 2011 and operated by a new fleet of ten Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MMC single-decker buses entering service on the route on 21 July 2016. [1]
On 14 April 2019, ten new Alexander Dennis Enviro400 City double-decker buses entered service on the route. [2] [3] [4]
From March 2025, a fleet of eleven Wright StreetDeck Electroliner battery electric buses began operating on the service, replacing the diesel Enviro400 Citys and featuring a revised blue livery. The delivery coincided with a five-year extension of First Glasgow's contract to operate the service. [5]
On the 31 December 2024, a petition to extend the bus route to connect Giffnock to the airport was launched.
