The Fifth Military Region is a military region of Armed Forces of Yemen. Its headquarters locates in Hudaydah Governorate. [1]
The fifth region was established in 2013. [2] As part of the military restructuring, former president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi issued a republication decree to divide the military field into seven regions, including the Fifth Military Region. The region is headquartered in Hudaydah city and supervises the military units in Hudaydah and Hajjah Governorates. [3]
The region basically consists of 11 military units and brigades, including; 121 Infantry Brigade, 82 Infantry Brigade, 105 Infantry Brigade, 25 Mechanised Infantry Brigade, 2nd Border Guard Brigade.

Al Hudaydah offensive, also called Western Coast Offensive, describes the offensive launched in December 2017 by pro-government forces against the Houthis in Al Hudaydah Governorate as part of Yemen's 2015 civil war. As of December 2018, the pro-government forces have captured the towns of Al Khawkhah, Hays, At Tuhayta, and brokered a ceasefire in Al Hudaydah City. In November 2021, a coalition withdrawal led the Houthi forces to break the siege of Al Hudaydah and recapture At Tuhayta.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ali Al-Maqdashi is a Yemeni military officer. On 28 July 2022 he appointed by Rashad Al-Alaimi as an advisor to the Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council for military and security affairs. He was previously Yemeni Minister of Defense, and a military advisor to former President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi. He also served as chief of staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces.
