The Guardian Student Media Awards were an annual UK-wide student journalism competition run by The Guardian newspaper. They were cancelled from 2016 onwards to save costs.

On 6 December 2019 the Competition and Markets Authority served an initial enforcement order on DMGT and DMG Media Limited, requiring the paper to be run separately pending investigation.

The Nigerian Academy of Science is the official science academy of Nigeria. The academy of science was established on 18 January 1977, as an association of Nigeria's foremost scientists, but incorporated in 1986. It is the apex scientific organization in Nigeria. The Academy acts as a scientific advisor to the Federal Government of Nigeria, funds research fellowships, and scientific start-up companies. The Academy is governed by its council, which is chaired by the academy's president, according to a set of Statutes and Bye-laws. The members of council and the president are elected from, and by its Fellows. The basic members of the Academy are also elected by existing Fellows. There are currently 268 Fellows allowed to use the postnominal title FAS, with not more than 10 new Fellows appointed each year. The current president is Professor Ekanem Ikpi Braide, a professor of Parasitology. The Nigerian Academy of Science is Nigeria's national representative on such bodies as the International Science Council (ISC) – the umbrella body for all science associations and unions – and the Inter-Academy Partnership for Policy (IAP) – the umbrella body for all national science academies globally. The academy is also a member of the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC).
The Nigerian Academy of Science Media Awards are media awards presented annually to recognize outstanding science reporting. The award was founded in 2010 by the Nigerian Academy of Science to honor broadcast journalists and Newspaper columnist who published science-related articles, such as articles on health, technology and environment. The award presentation is often attended by numerous media representatives, politicians, celebrities, journalists across the world. The most recent ceremony, honouring journalists in 2017, was held at Sheraton hotel, Mobolaji Bank Anthony way, Maryland, Lagos State, Nigeria on August 10, 2017.

Akah Nnani is a Nigerian actor, TV host, content creator, and YouTuber, well known for his supporting role in Banana Island Ghost, which earned him a nomination at the 14th, and 15th editions of The AMA Awards in the Best Actor in a Supporting Role category in 2018 and 2019. In 2022, he returned to screen with a lead role in the Netflix Original movie, Man of God, as Samuel Obalolu.
