The 7th Military Region is a military region of Armed Forces of Yemen. Its headquarters is in Dhamar Governorate. [1]
The 7th region was established in 2013. On 10 April 2013 President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi issued a republication decree to restructure the military field into seven regions, including the 7th Military Region. The region is headquartered in Dhamar city and supervises the military formations in Dhamar, al-Baydah, Sanaa, and Ibb Governorates.
The region basically consists of 7 military brigades, including; 30th Armored Brigade, 9th Infantry Brigade, 55 and 61 Artillery Brigades.
Major General Salem Ali Qatan was a Yemeni military officer and member of the Al-Awaliq tribe. He was born in Yashbem in As Said District, Shabwah Governorate. He was married, and joined the military in 1970. As the chief military commander in south Yemen, Qatan had led a month-long offensive against terrorist organization al-Qaeda, leading to its withdrawal from several towns and villages in the Abyan and Shabwa provinces of Yemen which it had controlled since 2011. Ali Qatan was appointed in March 2012, succeeding Major General Mahdi Maqouleh just days after the newly elected President of Yemen, Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi took office and pledged to destroy al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula once and for all.
The Security Belt Forces is a paramilitary force based in Southern Yemen and forms the elite military wing of the Southern Transitional Council. The force operates in the governorates of Aden, Lahij and Abyan and is trained and heavily supported by the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces. The Security Belt has fought against Islah, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’s Yemeni branch.
The Abyan conflict was a series of clashes between forces of AQAP loyal to Yemeni president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, and forces loyal to Southern Movement for the control of Abyan between 2016 and 2018.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ali Al-Maqdashi is a Yemeni military officer. On 28 July 2022 he appointed by Rashad Al-Alaimi as an advisor to the Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council for military and security affairs. He was previously Yemeni Minister of Defense, and a military advisor to former President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi. He also served as chief of staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces.
Ali Al-Ghurairi is an Iraqi army general, commanding general, and chief of police, who currently serves as Director-General Commander of Police of the capital Baghdad. He previously served as the Chief of staff of the Iraqi Federal Police Forces Command, Director-General of Directorate of Recruitment Management in Ministry Of Defense, Director of Training in MOD, and Director of Administration in MOD.
The Presidential Leadership Council is the executive body of Yemen's internationally-recognized government, formed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, by a presidential decree on 7 April 2022, to seek a "comprehensive political solution" to the Yemeni civil war. It is headed by Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi and has a membership of eight members. All the powers of the president and vice president have been transferred to this council.
Sagheer Hamoud ِAhmed Aziz, sometimes spelled "Sagher Hamood,or Saghir", commonly known as Sagheer bin Aziz, is a Yemeni politician, MP, and military officer. He is the current chief of the Yemeni Armed Forces Staff. He is also a GPC member in the Yemeni Parliament, for the parliamentary session 2003–2009 for constituency No. (280) B Amran Governorate, north Yemen. On 28 February 2020, he was appointed as Chief of the General Staff of the Yemeni Army and promoted to Lt. Gen.
Faraj Salmin al-Buhsani is a Yemeni politician and military officer. He is currently a member of the Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council. He is a former commander of the second military region based in Hadramout. He is the former governor of Hadramout.
Mohsen Mohammed Al-Daeri is a Yemeni military officer and the minister of defense; he was appointed to this position on 28 July 2022 and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant general. He previously served as deputy head of the Yemeni military joint operations.

Ameen Ali al-Akimi is a Yemeni politician and MP. On 15 August 2016, he was appointed by Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi as governor of Al-Jawf Governorate until 10 October 2022 when he was replaced with Hussein al-Aji al-Awadhi.
Nasser Ali Abdullah al-Dhaibani was a Yemeni army major general who served as head of the Military Operations Authority of Yemeni Army. In 2021 he was killed during battles with the Houthis.
Major general Ameen Abdullah al-Waeli was a Yemeni military officer and held the rank of major general. He served as commander of the 6th military region of Yemeni Army of the internationally-recognized government forces. He is among the most senior members of the government forces to have been killed in the Yemeni Civil War. He was killed during battles with Houthis in Marib in 2021.
Abdullah Salem Ali al-Nakha'ai is a Yemeni military officer. On 7 November 2018, he was appointed by Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi as chief of the Yemeni Army and promoted to the rank of major general. Previously, he was commander of the Yemeni Navy and Coastal Defence Forces (2012-2018).
The First Military Region is a military region of Armed Forces of Yemen. Its headquarters is in Seiyun of Hadramawt, eastern Yemen. It is responsible for managing administrative issues of the military units in parts of Hadramawt Governorate, including Seiyun city.
