A. B. M. G. Kibria is a retired police officer and former adviser, with the rank of minister, of Shahabuddin Ahmed Cabinet.

Early life

Kibria graduated from the University of Dhaka with Masters and Bacherlors in Economics. [1]

Career

Kibria joined Police Service of Pakistan in 1952 after passing the Central Superior Services examination. He was the General Secretary of East Pakistan Sports Federation. He served as the Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of East Pakistan, Sher-e-Bangla A.K Fazlul Huq. He served as the Deputy Commissioner in Kolkata. For 18 years he served as the President of Anjuman Mufidul Islam. He became the president of Sadharan Bima Corporation in 1985. He served as an advisor to the Shahabuddin Ahmed caretaker government and was in charge of the Ministry of Communication and Telecommunication. [1]

Death

Kibria died on 28 June 2014 in United Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh. [1] [2]

Shahabuddin Ahmed was a Bangladeshi politician who served as the President of Bangladesh from 1996 to 2001, and the Chief Justice of Bangladesh from 1990 to 1995. He previously served as the acting president during 1990–91 when Hussain Muhammad Ershad resigned from the post. He headed an interim government and held a general election in February 1991.

Amanullah Mohammad Asaduzzaman was an East Pakistani student activist whose death at the hands of police during a protest on 20 January 1969 "changed the nature of the student-mass movement and ... turned into a mass-upsurge against the Ayub regime and its repressive measures", according to Banglapedia. The Daily Star reports him as one of three martyrs of the 1969 uprising in East Pakistan which "set the stage for the liberation war". The Crack Platoon was a special commando team of the Mukti Bahini. which was formed in 1971, during the Bangladesh Liberation War. It was formed by young members of the Mukti Bahini, which carried out commando operations in Dhaka and its surroundings and led by Major Khaled Mosharraf. The commandos were mostly students and civilians, who received guerrilla training later in the training camps for Mukti Bahini and then engaged in battle against the Pakistani Army.

The Banani graveyard is a cemetery in the Banani neighbourhood of Dhaka. It is one of eight state-run graveyards in Dhaka and, with a capacity for around 22,000 graves, one of the largest graveyards in that city. It covers approximately 10 acres and two to three burials take place every day. Banani graveyard is the resting place for a number of notable Bangladeshis, amongst them the victims of the coup d'ètat of August 15, 1975. The graveyard was established in 1973.

Mohammed Shahabuddin, also known as Chuppu (চুপ্পু), is the 16th and incumbent President of Bangladesh. A jurist, civil servant and politician, he was elected unopposed in the 2023 presidential election in the nomination of the ruling Awami League. Prior to his presidency, Shahabuddin served as a district and sessions judge and a commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission from 2011 to 2016.

Shahabuddin Ahmed is a Bangladeshi civil servant and ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan. He is a former secretary of the Ministry of Food.
