A. K. M. Shahidul Haque is a Bangladeshi police officer who served as the 26th Inspector General of Bangladesh Police. He is the founder of Mazid Jarina Foundation School &College. [1] [2] [3]
Haque was born in Narkalikata,Naria,Shariatpur District to a Bengali Muslim family. He joined Bangladesh Police in 1986 as an assistant superintendent. [4] He held other positions,which include Police Commissioner,Dhaka Metropolitan Police,DIG Chittagong Range,DIG Rajshahi Range,DIG (Finance and Development),Police Headquarters,SP Sirajganj,Chittagong,Moulvibazar and Chandpur. Before promoted to IGP,he was Additional IGP (Administration and Operations) at the status of Secretary of Bangladesh Police. [5] [6]
Haque served in three UN peace keeping missions,in Cambodia,Angola and Sudan,and was awarded the UN Peace Medal for his performance. [4]
On 3 September 2024,Haque was arrested from Uttara area of Dhaka. [7] He is facing multiple cases,including murder cases. [8]
Haque is the author of different books like - 1. Police and Community with Concept of Community Policing,2. Community Policing Ki Ebong Keno 3. Somaje Police Ebong Community Policing 4. Bangladesh Police Sarrgrontho 5. Community Policing:Concept,Aims and Objectives and 6. Bangladesh Police Hand Book etc. [9]
The National Security Intelligence,commonly known as the NSI,is the principal civilian intelligence agency of Bangladesh. The NSI's headquarters is in Segunbagicha,Dhaka. The NSI is the leading body of the Government of Bangladesh in the field of internal security,counter terrorism,counter intelligence and foreign intelligence. NSI is the largest among the intelligence agencies in Bangladesh,the others being the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI),SB,CID,PBI and intelligence directorates of armed and paramilitary forces. The agency stands under the direct authority of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Police is the national law enforcement agency of Bangladesh,operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun is a disgraced Bangladeshi police officer who was sacked for key involvement in mass killing during the Bangladesh student protest. He is now in custody. Mamun served as the 31st Inspector general of Bangladesh Police (IGP) who served from 30 September 2022 to 6 August 2024. Previously,he served as director general of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Mamunul Haque is a Bangladeshi Islamic scholar and the Joint Secretary-General of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh,emerged as an Islamist leader in the late 2010s,particularly following the deadliest events of the Siege of Dhaka. With an ancestral heritage of religious scholarship and political leadership from his father,Azizul Haque,he succeeded his father both as a Sheikh al-Hadith at Jamia Rahmania and as the Secretary-General of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis. He is best known for his oratory skills and his advocacy for the establishment of an Islamic state and the integration of Islamic principles into government policies. In 2020 and 2021,he led opposition to the construction of a sculpture of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and organized anti-Modi protests,which made him the undisputed Hefazat leader overnight. He faced legal challenges,including 41 cases,one of which was a treason charge,and has been imprisoned three times under the Sheikh Hasina regime. Following the fall of this regime,he participated in discussions with the President and the Chief of Army Staff,which eventually led to the formation of the Yunus ministry,which included a member from Hefazat,A F M Khalid Hossain. In addition to his political and religious activities,he has served as an adjunct professor at Asian University of Bangladesh and is the editor of Rahmani Paigam,a monthly magazine published in Dhaka.
Hamidul Haque nswc,psc is a retired major general of Bangladesh Army and former Managing Director of Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory. Before that,he served as the director general of Directorate-General of Forces Intelligence. Prior to joining DGFI,he was the general officer commanding of the 17th Infantry Division and Sylhet area commander.
Banaj Kumar Majumder is a Bangladeshi retired police officer. He was additional IGP of the Bangladesh Police and former chief of the Police Bureau of Investigation. Prior to joining PBI,he was additional commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police in the rank of additional DIG. He came into limelight when he was SP of Cox's Bazar District.
Mohammad Anwar Latif Khan is a retired Bangladesh Army colonel and former sector commander of Border Guard Bangladesh in Rajshahi. He is the former additional director general (operations) at the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) an elite multi-service unit of the Bangladesh Police,and oversaw crackdowns on Islamist militants. He has been sanctioned by the United States for his activities in RAB. He had previously commanded RAB-5,RAB-7,and RAB-11.
