A. P. Shanmugasundara Goundar is an Indian politician and former Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate from Pollachi constituency in 1967, and 1971 elections A.P.Shanmugasundaram is a former Member of Legislative Assembly from Pollachi Constituency. He graduated with B.Sc ( Chemistry ) from Loyola College, Chennai. He has a daughter and a son. Now he is into doing various spiritual activities. He is a great follower of Ramanuja and Lord Krishna.
Earlier in life he used to be an atheist and follower of Dravidar Kazhagam and he was inspired by the speeches from Ex chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, CN Annadurai. Once he was working in his village he saw a small mountain near his farm so out of the curiosity he and his sub-ordinate climbed the mountain and there he found a small temple for Lord Krishna. This was the first incident happened in his life.
Then later he started studying about Ramanuja then with the help of Tamil Nadu government and well wishers he started re-construction work of the old temple in the mountain and a small temple for Ramanuja in the same foothills. Today the temple is one of the famous religious and spiritual spot in nearby villages. [1] [2]

The fifth legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held in March 1971. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam was re-elected, after its first victory under the leadership of C N Annadurai in 1967. This was the first time M. Karunanidhi, contested as the leader of DMK party won the election, since he assumed Chief Ministership for the first time, after the death of C N Annadurai. Karunanidhi had emerged successfully in the leadership crisis with other party leaders M. G. Ramachandran, and Nedunchezhiyan, which ensued after the death of C. N. Annadurai. The main opposition party in the election was Indian National Congress (Organisation) led by K. Kamaraj, whereas the Indian National Congress (Indira) faction aligned with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
Si. Balasubramania Athithan 27 September 1905 – 24 May 1981), popularly called as "Adithanar", was an Indian lawyer, politician, minister and founder of the Tamil daily newspaper Dina Thanthi. He was the founder of the We Tamils party. He served as a member of the Madras Legislative Council for two terms and as a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly for four terms. He was the Speaker of the Assembly during 1967–68 and Tamil Nadu's minister for Cooperation in the M. Karunanidhi cabinets of 1969 and 1971. In his memory, two Tamil literary awards were created and are awarded annually by his son, Sivanthi Adithanar.
