The A19 is an important road of southern Tanzania. It connects Mbamba Bay on Lake Malawi in the west with Mtwara on the Indian Ocean coast. [1] En route it passes through some major towns including Songea. Its western point is located near 11°17′42″S34°48′7″E / 11.29500°S 34.80194°E and its eastern point is located near 10°17′40″S40°10′43″E / 10.29444°S 40.17861°E . At Masasi the B5 road forks off towards the northeast. At Mtwara the road runs past Mtwara before finally ending where it joins the B2 road.[ citation needed ]

The Mtwara Development Project is a major infrastructure development project involving southern Tanzania, Northern Mozambique, Eastern Malawi and Eastern Zambia. The goal of this project is to provide road, rail and waterway access from the surrounding region to the Port of Mtwara. The region and the corridor has been neglected by the respective governments for over 40 years and the recent discovery of oil, gas and various minerals has kick started the development of the project. A road and rail link is to be built from the port of Mtwara to Mbamba bay on Lake Nyasa to link Malawi to the corridor and further road links into Mozambique will facilitate access to northern Mozambique.
Mtwara Region is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative regions. The regional capital is the municipality of Mtwara. According to the 2012 national census, the region had a population of 1,270,854, which was lower than the pre-census projection of 1,374,767. For 2002-2012, the region's 1.2 percent average annual population growth rate was the 26th highest in the country. It was also the fourteenth most densely populated region with 76 people per square kilometer.
Songea is the capital of Ruvuma Region in southwestern Tanzania. It is located along the A19 road. The city has a population of approximately 203,309, and it is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Songea. Between 1905 and 1907, the city was a centre of African resistance during the Maji Maji Rebellion in German East Africa. The city is poised to experience significant economic growth in the near future as the Mtwara Corridor opens up in a few years.
Likoma District consists of two separate exclaves of Malawi situated within Mozambican waters in Lake Malawi. It consists of two main islands, Likoma and Chizumulu. It is a district in the Northern Region of Malawi. The capital is Likoma.
M-123 is a state trunkline highway in the eastern Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is one of only a few highways in Michigan that curve around and form a U-shape. In fact, M-123 has three intersections with only two state trunklines; it meets M-28 twice as a result of its U-shaped routing. M-123 also has a rare signed concurrency with a County-Designated Highway in Michigan; in Trout Lake, there is a concurrency with H-40. All of M-123 north of M-28 is a Scenic Heritage Route within the Michigan Heritage Route system.

Sea Cow Island, also known as Île Vache Marine, is a round 18 ha island on the Great Chagos Bank atoll of the Chagos Archipelago in the British Indian Ocean Territory. It was named after the dugongs that were once abundant in the area, although they have since become regionally extinct. It is the smaller of the two islands in the Eagle Islands group on the western side of the atoll and forms part of the Chagos Archipelago strict nature reserve. It has been identified as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International because of its significance as a breeding site for brown noddies, of which 11,500 pairs were recorded in a 2004 survey.
Dzhebel Glacier is the 15 km long and 11 km wide glacier on Oscar II Coast, Graham Land in Antarctica situated southwest of Jorum Glacier, northeast of Chuchuliga Glacier and southeast of Goodwin Glacier. It is draining from the slopes of Bruce Plateau and Forbidden Plateau, and flowing southeastwards to join Crane Glacier.
Mtwara Thermal Power Station is a power plant owned by the Tanzania Electric Supply Company. The station has a capacity of 18 MW (24,000 hp) and uses natural gas from the Mnazi Bay gas wells in Mtwara. The station is not connected to the national grid but is instead connected to the Mtwara/Lindi mini-grid.
