The Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) is a collegiate athletic conference operating mostly in the Southeastern United States. The league participates at the NCAA Division I level, and began sponsoring football at the Division I FCS level in 2022. Originally established as the Trans America Athletic Conference (TAAC) in 1978, it was renamed as the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2001, and briefly rebranded as the ASUN Conference from 2016 to 2023. The conference still uses "ASUN" as an official abbreviation. The conference headquarters are located in Jacksonville. On May 8, 2024, the conference announced it would move its headquarters from Atlanta, Georgia to Jacksonville, Florida in the fall of 2024.
The Jacksonville Dolphins are the intercollegiate athletics teams that represent Jacksonville University, located in Jacksonville, Florida. The Dolphins participate in NCAA Division I athletics, and are primarily members of the ASUN Conference. Some teams in sports that are not sponsored by the ASUN play in other conferences; specifically, the men's and women's rowing teams are in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The men's lacrosse team had played in the Southern Conference (SoCon) from 2015 to 2022, but that sport will return to the ASUN for the 2023 season.

The Jacksonville University Men's Soccer Team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida, United States. The team plays its home games at Southern Oak Stadium. The Dolphins are coached by Ali Simmons, who enters his first season in 2023.

The Lipscomb Bison were the defending tournament champions, and successfully defended their crown, defeating Florida Gulf Coast in the final. It was the second consecutive title, and second title in program history for Lipscomb and coach Kevin O'Brien.

The Liberty Flames were the defending tournament champions, and unable to defend their title, losing to Eastern Kentucky in the Quarterfinals. The Lipscomb Bisons won the tournament after defeating Kennesaw State 1–0 in the final. It was their third title in four years, and third title in program history for Lipscomb and coach Kevin O'Brien. As tournament champions, Lipscomb earned the ASUN's automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament.

The tournament was hosted at campus sites, with the #1 seed hosting two Quarterfinals and one Semifinal while the #2 seed hosted the other two Quarterfinals and Semifinal. The highest remaining seed hosted the final. The eight-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The Lipscomb Bison were the defending tournament champions, and unable to defend their title, losing to Central Arkansas in a penalty-shoot out in the Quarterfinals. The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles won the tournament after defeating Liberty 4–3 in a penalty shoot-out in the final. It was Florida Gulf Coast's seventh overall title and first since 2017. All of the Eagle's titles have come under coach Jim Blankenship. As tournament champions, Florida Gulf Coast earned the ASUN's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament.

All rounds of the tournament were hosted at the first and second seeds home stadiums, with the #1 seed Lipscomb, hosting the Final. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The Lipscomb Bison were the defending tournament champions, and were successful in defending their title, defeating second seed Central Arkansas 6–2 in the Final. It was their fourth title in six years, and fourth title in program history for Lipscomb and coach Charles Morrow. As tournament champions, Lipscomb earned the ASUN's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament.

The winner, Stetson, received the conference's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Tournament. It was their first ever ASUN championship and NCAA tournament appearance for the Hatters.

The 2023–24 North Florida Ospreys women's basketball team represented the University of North Florida during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Ospreys, led by first-year head coach Erika Lambert, played their home games at the UNF Arena in Jacksonville, Florida as members of the ASUN Conference. They finished the season 9–21, 3–13 in ASUN play, to finish in 11th place.

The Knights, led by 12th-year head coach Chancellor Dugan, play their home games at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky as members of the ASUN Conference. They finished the season 10–19, 5–11 in ASUN play, to finish in tenth place.

The tournament will be the 45th year the league has conducted a postseason tournament. The tournament will be held March 8-16 at campus sites of the higher seeds. If eligible, the winner will receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Tournament. If Bellarmine or Queens wins the tournament, the automatic bid will instead be given to the regular season champion.

The tournament was hosted at campus sites, with the #3 and #6 seed hosting the First Round and Quarterfinals while the #1 seed hosted the Semifinals and Final. The eight-team single-elimination tournament consisted of four rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles were the defending tournament champions. The Eagles were unable to defend their title, falling to Eastern Kentucky in the Semifinals. Eastern Kentucky went on to lose the final to Lipscomb 1–0. It was Lipscomb's fourth overall title. All of the Bison's titles have come under head coach Kevin O'Brien. As tournament champions, Lipscomb earned the ASUN's automatic berth into the 2024 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament.
