ATSE Graz is an ice hockey team in Graz, Austria. They play in the Eliteliga, the third level of ice hockey in Austria.

Graz is the capital of Styria and the second-largest city in Austria after Vienna. On 1 January 2019, it had a population of 328,276. In 2015, the population of the Graz larger urban zone who had principal residence status stood at 633,168.

History

The club was founded in 1947, and won the Austrian Hockey League in 1975 and 1978. The club was merged with UEC Graz into EC Graz in 1990. In 2008, they were revived, and began playing in the Austrian Oberliga. ATSE won the Oberliga in 2009, and were promoted to the Nationalliga for 2010. After failing to win in the Play-Off, ATSE retreated from the Nationalliga, starting to play in the Styrian Eliteliga.

The Austrian Hockey League is the top-tier ice hockey league in Austria, although it currently features additional teams from Croatia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Italy.

EC Graz was an Austrian ice hockey team from Graz, Styria, playing in the Austrian Hockey League and Alpenliga in the 90s.

The Austrian Oberliga is the third level of ice hockey in Austria. The league lies below the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, and the Austrian National League.

Hans Dobida played with ATSE Graz for five seasons as a young adult, then later served as head of section at ATSE Graz for almost 40 years. [1] [2]

Hans Dobida is an Austrian retired ice hockey and roller in-line hockey administrator. He was involved with ATSE Graz for almost 40 years, and served as president of the Austrian Ice Hockey Association from 1977 to 1996. He helped organize hosting duties for Austria in ice hockey at the Olympic Games, and the Ice Hockey World Championships. He was a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation council from 1986 to 2008, oversaw the IIHF Continental Cup, and was part of the IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship committee. He was been inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame, the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame, the Slovenian Hockey Hall of Fame; and received the "Gold Medal" class of the Decoration of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria.

IIHF Continental Cup ice hockey competition

The Continental Cup is an ice hockey tournament for European clubs, begun in 1997 after the discontinuing of the European Cup. It was intended for teams from countries without representatives in the European Hockey League, with participating teams chosen by the countries' respective ice hockey associations. Hans Dobida served as chairman of the Continental Cup until 2018.

Graz 99ers ice hockey team

The Moser Medical Graz 99ers are an Austrian ice hockey team from Graz, Styria. The club was founded in 1999 after previous club, EHC Graz, folded prior to the 1998–99 season due to financial difficulties. The Graz 99ers started in the 1999–00 season in the Austrian National League, Austria's second division, where they were crowned instant champions. Since the 2000–01 season they have been playing in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga.

EC KAC ice hockey team

EC KAC, or the Klagenfurt Athletic Sports Club, is a professional ice hockey team in the Austrian Erste Bank Hockey League. The team plays their home games in Klagenfurt, Carinthia, Austria at Stadthalle Klagenfurt. EC KAC has won the most Austrian ice hockey Championships, a total of 30 times including 11 consecutive titles from 1964 to 1974, and four consecutive from 1985 to 1988. Most recently they won it in 2013

The International Ice Hockey Federation is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey and in-line hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 76 members. It manages international ice hockey tournaments and maintains the IIHF World Ranking.

2008 IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship

The 2008 IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship was the 12th IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship, an international inline hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The World Championship runs alongside the 2008 IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship Division I tournament and took place between 21 and 28 June 2008 in Bratislava, Slovakia. The tournament was won by Sweden, earning their second straight World Championship title and fourth overall. Slovakia finished in second place and Germany in third after defeating the United States in the bronze medal match. Austria, after losing the 7th place game against Slovenia was relegated to Division I for 2009. The event chairman was Hans Dobida.

Sergei Mikhailovich Makarov is a Russian former ice hockey right wing and two-time Olympic gold medalist. He was voted one of six players to the International Ice Hockey Federation's (IIHF) Centennial All-Star Team in a poll conducted by a group of 56 experts from 16 countries.

Walter Wasservogel

Walter Wasservogel was an Austrian ice hockey player and administrator. He served as president of the Austrian Ice Hockey Association, and later as the general secretary of the International Ice Hockey Federation. He received the Olympic Order, and is inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame.

Harry Lindblad

Harry Lindblad was a Finnish ice hockey administrator, coach and player. He served as the Finnish Ice Hockey Association president for 18 years, after five years as its vice-president. During this time, Finland participated in its first ice hockey tournament at the Winter Olympics, won its first medal in international hockey, began to build indoor ice rinks, and later hosted the Ice Hockey World Championships. He was posthumously recognized for his contributions by induction into both the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame, and the IIHF Hall of Fame.
