A Dead Forest Index is a musical project formed by brothers Adam Sherry and Sam Sherry in 2008 in Melbourne, Australia. [1]
Adam and Sam Sherry are originally from New Zealand, writing and performing as a minimalist two-piece, based between Melbourne and London.
In 2012, A Dead Forest Index released an EP entitled Antique with Denovali Records [2] and in 2013 the duo were invited to support the band Savages on a UK tour. [3] Following on from supporting Savages, having caught the attention of Savages’ singer and Pop Noire label co- founder Jehnny Beth, the duo released the EP Cast of Lines with the label Pop Noire in 2014. [4]
The duo released their debut album In All That Drifts from Summit Down with US label Sargent House in 2016 and were invited to support Chelsea Wolfe on a tour of North America. [5] [6]
In 2016, Gemma Thompson, guitarist of the band Savages married Sam Sherry and features on the single Myth Retraced. [7]
In 2017, A Dead Forest Index were invited to collaborate with the Italian dance company Dewey Dell to compose a choral composition inspired by the Sardinian Cantu a tenores. [8] The composition Deriva Traversa was premiered at festivals Danza Urbana in Bologna [8] and Città delle 100 Scale Festival in Matera. [9]
In 2015, A Dead Forest Index collaborated with the band Savages when they were invited to write and perform together as an ensemble alongside choreographer/dance artist Fernanda Muñoz-Newsome for Doug Aitken’s Station to Station Festival at the Barbican. [10] The performance of the piece In What I’m Seeing: The Sun was recorded live onto vinyl. [11]
In 2018, Adam and Sam Sherry formed the trio Unmoor Kiva with Savages’ guitarist Gemma Thompson. [3]

In What I'm Seeing; The Sun (2015) (with Savages)
Mount Hood is a potentially active stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc. It was formed by a subduction zone on the Pacific coast and rests in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is located about 50 mi (80 km) east-southeast of Portland, on the border between Clackamas and Hood River counties. In addition to being Oregon's highest mountain, it is one of the loftiest mountains in the nation based on its prominence, and it offers the only year-round lift-served skiing in North America.
Mount Mansfield is the highest mountain in Vermont with a summit that peaks at 4,395 feet (1,340 m) above sea level. The summit is located within the town of Underhill in Chittenden County; the ridgeline, including some secondary peaks, extends into the town of Stowe in Lamoille County, and the mountain's flanks also reach into the town of Cambridge.

Sparks is an American pop and rock duo formed by brothers Ron (keyboards) and Russell Mael (vocals) in Los Angeles. Adam Whitney Savage is an American special effects designer and fabricator, actor, educator, and television personality and producer, best known as the former co-host of the Discovery Channel television series MythBusters and Unchained Reaction. His model work has appeared in major films, including Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and The Matrix Reloaded. He is the host of the TV program Savage Builds, which premiered on the Science Channel on June 14, 2019. He is most active on the platform Adam Savage's Tested which includes a website and a YouTube channel.
Yellow Swans are an American experimental music band from Portland, Oregon. The duo were renowned for their improvisational approach to noise music, creating a unique experience for each live performance. They described their music as "a constantly evolving mass of psychedelic noise that is both physically arresting and psychically liberating". The band consisted of Pete Swanson and Gabriel Mindel Saloman. The band announced their split in April 2008. A live show by Yellow Swans at the festival Oblivion Access was announced in 2023.

Bryce David Dessner is an American composer and guitarist based in Paris, as well as a member of the rock band the National. Dessner's twin brother Aaron is also a member of the group. Together they write the music, in collaboration with lead singer / lyricist Matt Berninger.
Savages are an English rock band that formed in 2011 in London. Their debut album, Silence Yourself was released on 6 May 2013 via Matador Records. It reached number 19 in the UK Albums Chart in May 2013, and was critically acclaimed. It peaked at number 5 on the Irish and the UK Independent Albums Chart, and at number 13 on the US Billboard Independent Albums chart. The band's second album Adore Life, was released on 22 January 2016. Both albums were nominated for the Mercury Prize, in 2013 and 2016 respectively.

Hinterland Music Festival is a multi-day music festival held at the Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater in St. Charles, Iowa, which was first held in 2015. Jehnny Beth, is a French musician, singer-songwriter, producer, presenter and actress, best known as half of the duo John & Jehn and front woman of the English rock band Savages. Her debut solo album To Love Is to Live was released to critical acclaim in June 2020. She also collaborated with other artists such as Trentemøller, Julian Casablancas, Tindersticks, Gorillaz, Noel Gallagher, Romy Madley Croft of the xx, Idles and Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream. In 2021, she released a duet album with Gillespie titled Utopian Ashes which received favourable reviews.
Gemma Hickey is a Canadian LGBTQ rights activist and author. They became one of the first Canadians to receive a gender-neutral birth certificate and passport. Hickey founded The Pathways Foundation, an organization that offers support to survivors of religious institutional abuse and their families. Since 2010, Hickey has worked as Executive Director of Artforce, formerly known as For the Love of Learning, a non-profit that works to forge new paths for at-risk youth by advancing their literacy and creative skills.
British Youth Music Theatre (BYMT), formerly Youth Music Theatre UK, is a UK-based national performing arts organisation founded in December 2003. BYMT provides music theatre training to young people aged 11–21 and a stepping stone to drama school or conservatoire. Members can join either through auditions in January and February onto productions or, without audition, onto summer camps. Most of its productions and summer camps are residential and situated around the UK with productions taking place in both regional and London theatres.
Ai-Da is "the world's first ultra-realistic humanoid robot". Completed in 2019, Ai-Da is an artificial intelligence robot that makes drawings, paintings, and sculptures. She is named after Ada Lovelace.
