A Parisian Romance (French : Un Roman Parisien) is a play written in French by Octave Feuillet and adapted in English by Augustus R. Cazauran. Producer A. M. Palmer staged it at the Union Square Theatre on Broadway, where it debuted on January 11, 1883, with Richard Mansfield starring as Baron Chevrial. Mansfield later purchased the rights to the play and made it part of the repertory of his touring company. The production used sets designed by Richard Marston. [1]
In 1932 Allied Pictures produced a film adaptation, also titled A Parisian Romance , directed by Chester M. Franklin. It starred Lew Cody and Marion Shilling. [2]

He produced over 140 plays on Broadway, including some of the most successful shows of the period, sometimes under the name of the production company 'Al Woods Ltd.'. Woods built the Eltinge Theatre on Broadway, named for one of his most successful and profitable stars, the female impersonator Julian Eltinge.

Donald Moffat was a British–American actor with a decades-long career in film and stage in the United States. He began his acting career on- and off-Broadway, which included appearances in The Wild Duck and Right You Are If You Think You Are, earning Tony Award nominations for both, as well as Painting Churches, for which he received an Obie Award. Moffat also appeared in several feature films, including The Thing (1982), The Right Stuff (1983) and, in a rare leading role on film, as a tenuously-recovering alcoholic in On the Nickel (1980). Moffat also made guest appearances in numerous television series, including such shows as Little House on the Prairie, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and The West Wing. He also was a principal in the 1993 TV miniseries Tales of the City.

Prince Karl is a play written by A. C. Gunter in 1886. Gunter originally conceived the play as a drama, but actor Richard Mansfield thought it would work better as a comedy. Mansfield debuted in the title role at the Boston Museum on April 5, 1886. After a four-week run in Boston, Mansfield took it to Broadway, where it opened at the Madison Square Theatre on May 3. In 1887, Mansfield took his company to England, and he opened Prince Karl at the Lyceum Theatre in London's West End on October 10 of that year. The play became part of the repertory of Mansfield's company, and he continued to perform it until shortly before his death in 1907.
Lesbia is a one-act play written by Richard Davey. The story is a comedy about the relationship between the Roman poet Catullus and his lover Lesbia. The actor-manager Richard Mansfield staged the play at the Lyceum Theatre in London, where it debuted on 17 September 1888 with Beatrice Cameron as Lesbia. Mansfield later took the play to the United States as part of the repertory of his company.

The Greenwich Village Follies was a musical revue that played for eight seasons in New York City from 1919 to 1927. Launched by John Murray Anderson, and opening on July 15, 1919, at the newly constructed Greenwich Village Theatre near Christopher Street, the show's success has been credited in part to its timing: as a non-union production, it was unaffected by the then-current actors' strike.
The Voice from the Minaret is a play by the British writer Robert Hichens. It premiered at the Globe Theatre in London's West End in 1919, with a cast including Marie Lohr, Arthur Wontner, Henry Vibart, Norman McKinnel, George Hayes and Vane Featherston. In 1922 it was staged on Broadway at the Hudson Theatre with Lohr and Herbert Marshall heading the cast, and Edmund Gwenn receiving the best reviews.
Richard Marston (1847–1917) was an English scenic designer who had a prominent career as a designer for Broadway productions from the 1860s into the early 20th century. After designing new sets for the very first musical, The Black Crook, at Niblo's Garden in 1867, Marston served as the resident scenic designer at first the Union Square Theatre and later the Madison Square Theatre. He was particularly admired for his outdoor set designs.
Paul West was an American playwright, lyricist, newspaper editor, journalist, screenwriter, author, and talent agent. After working as a journalist in Massachusetts from 1888 to 1892, he began his career in the theatre as a press representative for Charles H. Hoyt; followed by a season as the business manager for the opera singer and actress Camille D'Arville and the comedian Frank Daniels. From 1898 to 1911 he worked on the editorial staff The New York Sunday World during which time be began a career as a prolific lyricist for both Broadway musicals and Tin Pan Alley publishers of popular song; publishing more the 500 songs during his lifetime. He also worked as a playwright, penning both plays and the books for several musicals. More than 15 of his stage works were mounted on Broadway between the years 1902–1913. In 1904 his children's book The Pearl and the Pumpkin was published; a work which he later adapted into a 1905 musical.
