Mukesh Chand Mathur, better known mononymously as Mukesh, was an Indian playback singer. Mukesh is considered to be one of the most popular and acclaimed playback singers of the Hindi film industry. Amongst the numerous nominations and awards he won, his song "Kai Baar Yuhi Dekha Hai" from the film Rajnigandha (1973) won him the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer.
Shamshad Begum was an Indian singer who was one of the first playback singers in the Hindi film industry. Notable for her distinctive voice and range, she sang over 6,000 songs in Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, and Punjabi languages, among which 1287 were Hindi film songs. She worked with renowned composers of the time, such as Naushad Ali and O. P. Nayyar, for whom she was one of their favorites. Her songs from the 1940s to the early 1970s remain popular and continue to be remixed.
Parineeta is a 1953 Indian Hindi-language drama film starring Ashok Kumar and Meena Kumari, based upon the 1914 Bengali novella of the same name by Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The film was directed by Bimal Roy. This version of the film is considered by many to be the most faithful adaptation of the novella, particularly due to Meena Kumari's interpretation of the role of Lalita.

Mirza Ghalib is a 1954 Indian Hindi and Urdu language biographical film, directed by Sohrab Modi. Based on the life of well-known poet Mirza Ghalib, the film was acclaimed upon release. It stars Bharat Bhushan as Ghalib and Suraiya as his courtesan lover. The film won the President's Gold Medal for the All India Best Feature Film and the President's Silver Medal for Best Feature Film in Hindi in the 2nd National Film Awards for 1954. Suraiya's singing and her acting was specially applauded by the Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru, who remarked to her, "You have brought back Ghalib to life", in a special screening of the film at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Shabaab is a 1954 Bollywood movie. Made in the Hindi language and directed by M. Sadiq, it stars Bharat Bhushan and Nutan.
Munimji (transl. Clerk) is a 1955 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film starring Dev Anand and Nalini Jaywant, and directed by Subodh Mukherjee. The story idea was by Ranjan, screenplay was by Nasir Hussain and dialogues by Nasir Hussain and Qamar Jalalabadi. Pran played the villain in the film. It also starred Ameeta and Nirupa Roy. The team of Mukherjee, Nazir Hussain, Dev Anand and music director S.D. Burman later got together to produce another movie, Paying Guest, in 1957. The film was loosely adapted in Telugu as Inti Guttu (1958).

Sangram is a 1950 Bollywood film about a spoilt child in adulthood, directed by Gyan Mukherjee and starring Ashok Kumar, Nalini Jaywant in lead roles. A box office success, the film became the sixth highest earning Indian film of 1950, earning an approximate gross of Rs. 1,00,00,000 and a net of Rs. 55,00,000. "Sangram" is a precursor to the cop-father – criminal-son theme that later came to be a favourite in Bollywood, though it was made in film noir style that had begun to inspire filmmakers, and Gyan Mukherjee was no exception. An intense, bold 139-minute violent crime drama, with Ashok Kumar daring to essay a negative character, at a time that he was in great demand as a hero. And he excelled in it. The first of the many such films he went on to star in during the early '50s.
Bawre Nain is a 1950 Indian Hindi-language romance film directed by Kidar Nath Sharma. It was produced under the Ambitious Pictures banner at Shree Sound Studios. For the music, Sharma persisted with music director Roshan, in spite of several demands from film distributors to have him removed following his failure as a composer in an earlier film, Neki Aur Badi (1949). The music became popular and is stated to be the reason for the film's success. One of the noteworthy songs that popularised playback singer Mukesh was "Teri Duniya Mein Dil Lagta Nahin", composed in Raga Darbari Kaanada. Bawre Nain is cited as Roshan's "first big hit" as a music composer.

Jahan Ara is the 1964 Indian Hindi debut film of director Vinod Kumar. It stars Prithviraj Kapoor, Bharat Bhushan, Mala Sinha, Shashikala in lead roles. The film is a historical romance based on the life of Jahanara Begum, played by Mala Sinha. It was the first time this character was portrayed on-screen.

Suhaag Raat also called Sohag Raat, is a 1948 Hindi film of Indian cinema directed by Kidar Sharma. A romantic drama, it was Oriental Pictures first film, with distribution rights owned by Varma Films. The story was a joint effort by F. A. Mirza and V. Sharma, while the screenplay, dialogue and lyrics were written by Kidar Sharma. The music was composed by Snehal Bhatkar, with cinematography by D. K. Ambre and D. C. Mehta. Geeta Bali made her debut in a lead role with this film, which co-starred Bharat Bhushan and Begum Para. The rest of the cast included Pesi Patel, Nazir Kashmiri, S. Nazir, Nazira and Shanta Kumar.
Bahar is a 1951 Hindi Black-and-white social guidance film written and directed by M. V. Raman. It was a remake of the 1949 South Indian film Vazhkai. The film starred Vyjayanthimala and Pandari Bai in their Bollywood debut, Karan Dewan in the lead with Pran, Om Prakash, Leela Mishra, Sunder, Tabassum, Indira Acharya and Chaman Puri, forming an ensemble cast. The film was produced by A. V. Meiyappan with his production company, AVM. The music was composed by S. D. Burman with lyrics provided by Rajendra Krishan, while the editing was done by K. Shankarand and M. V. Raman and the camera was handled by T. Muthuswamy. The story revolves around Lata, Daksh Garg and Malti.
Chandni Chowk is a 1954 classic Muslim social drama film directed by B. R. Chopra. The music was composed by Roshan with lyrics written by Majrooh Sultanpuri, Saifuddin Saif, Kamil Rashid, Shailendra and Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. Story was by D. P. Berry with screenplay by I. S. Johar and dialogue written by Kamil Rashid. Produced by Prince Hira Sinh of Baria and Goverdhandas Aggarwal under the banner of Hira Films. The director of photography was Keki Mistry. The film starred Meena Kumari,Shekhar, Kumar, Jeevan, Smriti Biswas and Achala Sachdev. The main hero Shekhar was one of the less appreciated lead actors of the 1940s and 1950s but has been cited as a "master of realistic portrayals" usually cast in "mid-budget films".
Jadoo (Magic) is a 1951 Hindi psychosocial melodrama film directed by A. R. Kardar. The story writers were S. N. Bannerji and Jagdish Kanwal, with dialogues by Zahur Raja and Bannerji. The music director was Naushad, with lyrics by Shakeel Badayuni. This was the second to last film in which Naushad was to be the music director for Kardar. After an association of fourteen films, Naushad composed one last time for Kardar in Deewana (1952). Prior to this Kardar had already approached composer S. D. Burman for Jeewan Jyoti (1953). A "Musical Pictures Ltd." presentation, the film starred Nalini Jaywant, Suresh, Shyam Kumar, Sharda, and Ramesh.
Naujawan (transl. Youngsters) is 1951 Hindi film directed by Mahesh Kaul. It stars Nalini Jaywant, Premnath, Yashodhara Katju, Kamal Mehra, Zeb Qureshi, Cuckoo, S.N. Banerjee.
Daana Paani is a 1953 Indian Hindi-language film starring Meena Kumari and Bharat Bhushan in lead roles. The music was composed by Mohan Junior. After the success of Baiju Bawra released in 1952, Bhushan and Kumari were paired again in this film. A 15 year old Shashi Kapoor appeared as a child artist with the name Master Shashiraj in the film.
