Aaron Steele (born 4 February 1983) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender in the Canadian Professional Soccer League, USL A-League, and Premier Development League.
Steele began his professional career in 2003 with Hamilton Thunder of the Canadian Professional Soccer League, where his father Billy Steele served as assistant coach. [1] [2] The following year he signed a contract with the Toronto Lynx of the USL A-League. [3] In his debut season with Toronto he appeared in 16 matches. [4] In 2005, he signed with the Oakville Blue Devils of the Canadian Soccer League. [5] He contributed in Oakville's successful debut season by clinching a postseason berth, and in the quarter finals he scored the second goal in 3–1 victory over the Windsor Border Stars. [6] He featured in the CPSL Championship finals against Vaughan Shooters, and won the match by a score of 2–1. [7]
On 14 July 2006, he returned to play for the Toronto Lynx . [8] [9] He made his return match on 14 July 2006 in an Open Canada Cup game against the Serbian White Eagles. [10] Throughout the season he only appeared in five games due to injuries. He still managed to achieve a franchise record for the Lynx by going undefeated in ten matches at home, and reached the finals of the Open Canada Cup but lost 2–0 to Ottawa St. Anthony Italia. [11]
When the 2006 season came to a conclusion the club owners decided to relegate Toronto two divisions down into the Premier Development League. He remained with the club where he was appointed the new team captain after the retirement of Joe Mattacchione. Unfortunately he missed the entire season when he blew out his knee in a scrimmage match the night before the Toronto Lynx press conference. [12]
The North York Astros were a Canadian soccer team that was founded in 1990. The team initially played in the National Soccer League. The team played their home games at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York, a district of the city of Toronto, Canada. The team's colours were orange and black. The club was originally named North York Atletico Argentina Soccer Club, and witnessed instant success in its initial stages. After a merger with North York Talons, and a relocation to Scarborough the team was eventually renamed the North York Astros. The Astros were a founding member of the Canadian National Soccer League's successor league the Canadian Professional Soccer League in 1998.
York Region Shooters is a Canadian soccer team, that plays in the Canadian Soccer League. The Shooters played their home games at the St. Joan of Arc Turf Field in the City of Vaughan, Ontario. The team's colours were blue and white, mirroring those of the Italy national team and reflecting the cultural heritage of the club. The club had also competed under various different names as Vaughan Sun Devils, Vaughan Shooters, Italia Shooters, and finally as York Region Shooters.

The 2005 Canadian Professional Soccer League season was the 8th season for the Canadian Professional Soccer League. The season began on May 21, 2005 and concluded on October 10, 2005 with Oakville Blue Devils defeating Vaughan Shooters 2-1 to win their first CPSL Championship. The final was played at Esther Shiner Stadium, which gave North York Astros a playoff wildcard match. In the regular season the Vaughan Shooters won their first Eastern Conference title, while Hamilton Thunder secured their third Western Conference title. The league increased in membership with the return of the Laval Dynamites. For the first time in the league's history the CPSL introduced a Women's Canada Cup tournament, which included 6 district all-star teams from the existing men's soccer districts.
The 1998Canadian Professional Soccer League season was the inaugural season under the Canadian Professional Soccer League name. The season began on May 31, 1998, and concluded on October 14, 1998, with the St. Catharines Wolves defeating the Toronto Olympians in 4-2 victory in a penalty shootout to claim the first CPSL Championship held at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto, Ontario. Though Toronto was denied the treble they still managed to go undefeated the entire regular season, and dominate the league with the best offensive and defensive record.
