Aaron and Jordan Kandell

Aaron and Jordan Kandell (both born June 16, 1982) are identical twin American screenwriters and journalists. They were born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and studied film and creative writing at the University of Southern California. They have written numerous original feature film and television projects for Fox Animation, Disney Animation, Warner Brothers Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Legendary and Paramount Pictures. [1] The Kandell brothers were on the 2013 Young and Hungry List [2] and their screenplay The Golden Record was on the 2013 Black List. [3] They also served as screenwriters on Disney Animation's Moana . [1] [4] [5]

The Kandells wrote the spec script that was turned into the film Adrift (2018), directed by Baltasar Kormákur and starring Shailene Woodley. [6] [7] [8]

He worked in many Disney projects as an effects animator, and also led the special effects for several films, such as The Little Mermaid (1989) and The Rescuers Down Under (1990).

Maui (<i>Moana</i>) Fictional character from Disneys Moana

Maui is a fictional character that appears in the 2016 Walt Disney Animation Studios animated film Moana. He was created by directors Ron Clements and John Musker and is voiced by American actor Dwayne Johnson. Maui is loosely based on the mythological figure Māui in Polynesian mythology. He is characterised as a demigod, trickster and shapeshifter and is distinguishable by his bulky tattooed body, thick, flowing hair and magical fish hook that allows him to shapeshift into various creatures. Maui's tattoos recount his deeds and feature an animated miniature version of himself that pokes fun at his overinflated ego. The character is due to return in the sequel film Moana 2. As of February 2024, Moana 2 was scheduled to premier in November 2024. Johnson will also portray Maui in the live-action remake of Moana, which is scheduled for release in 2026.
