Abdel-Karim Deghmi (born in 1955 [1] ) is a Jordanian politician who has been Speaker of the House of Representatives since 15 November 2021. He attended Expo 2020 in 2020. [2]

At the opening of the 118th Congress, the members-elect of the U.S. House elected in the 2022 midterms held an election for speaker of the House, marking the 128th U.S. speaker election since the office was created in 1789. It began on January 3, 2023, and concluded in the early morning hours of January 7 when Kevin McCarthy of California, leader of the House Republican Conference, won a majority of votes cast on the fifteenth ballot. After the longest speaker election since the December 1859 – February 1860 U.S. speaker election, McCarthy won the speakership by making concessions to Republican Party hardliners, who had refused to support him through several rounds of voting for not being sufficiently conservative.

The 2022 West Virginia House of Delegates election was held on November 8, 2022, electing all 100 members of the chamber. This coincided with the election of 17 of West Virginia's 34 state senators, and the election of West Virginia's two U.S. representatives. Primary elections were held on May 10, 2022. Due to redistricting, this was the first House of Delegates election in which all members were elected from single member districts, with West Virginia following a trend of states phasing out multi-member districts in recent decades.
