Abdisalam Yassin Mohamed is a Somali professor and academic who had taken part in the establishment of the Somali National Movement (SNM). [1] He holds a PhD in African Literature from SOAS University of London. [2] He taught at King Saud University and King Abdulaziz University of Saudi Arabia. [3] He is currently the president of Shifa University in Somaliland. [4] His research was published in multiple academic journals, including the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs (Taylor & Francis). Ahmed Ismail Samatar is a Somali writer, professor and former dean of the Institute for Global Citizenship at Macalester College. He is the editor of Bildhaan: An International Journal of Somali Studies, and brother of Abdi Ismail Samatar, chair of the geography department at the University of Minnesota. Samatar joined the Peace, Unity, and Development Party, the ruling party of the self-declared Republic of Somaliland in June 2016. Samatar is being widely touted as a possible candidate for Somaliland's 2022 presidential elections.

Fahad Yasin Haji Dahir,, commonly known only as Fahad Yasin, is a Somali civil servant and politician, as well as a former journalist. He was also the campaign manager for Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed "Farmaajo" in the 2017 elections. After the elections, he was appointed Chief of Staff for Villa Somalia and then Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). Farmaajo subsequently appointed him as his national security advisor.

Ugas Yasin Ugas Abdurahman was a Somali ruler. He was the 28th Chieftain (UGAAS) of the Dishiishe chieftainship, (UGAASTOOYO) who also was the nominal ugas of the Harti clan of Darod groups, reigning from 1940 to 2000. Ugas was a former ruler of Bosaso. Along with other Somali traditional rulers, Ugas Yasin was one of the most prominent rulers of present-day Somalia and the longest served traditional ruler in the history of all Somali traditional rulers. Bosaso was represented in the parliament of the succeeding Trust Territory of Somaliland by Ugas Yasin.

Hussein Mohammed Adam "Tanzania" was a Somali professor, originally from Hargeisa, Somaliland, but born and raised in Arusha, Tanzania. He graduated in 1966 with his undergraduate degree from Princeton University. Professor Hussein Tanzania gained his PhD in political science from Harvard University and a master's degree from Makerere University with his book "A Nation in Search of a Script".
