Abdul Aziz Sarkar was a Bangladeshi police officer who served as the Director General of Rapid Action Battalion.
Sarkar served in the United Nation mission to the former Yugoslavia. He was appointed the Director General of Rapid Action battalion on 24 April 2005, he replaced Anwarul Iqbal the first Director General of RAB. [1] He served as the Director General of Rapid Action Battalion till 30 October 2006. He served during the 15 August 2004 Grenade attack on Sheikh Hasina. He led RAB into arresting Mufti Hannan. Home Minister Lutfozzaman Babar expressed dissatisfaction over the arrest and asked him not investigate the issue further. He along with Colonel Gulzar Uddin Ahmed interrogated Mufti Hanan in the Taskforce for Interrogation Cell. Sarkar said due to his term being over he could not take any more action over the issue. [2]
Sarkar oversaw the arrest of Shaykh Abdur Rahman head of the terrorist organisation Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh. [3] On 7 June 2005 he was accused in a case filed by Amela Khatun the mother of Jubo League activist Sumon. Sumon was part of a Bangladesh Awami League protest after the Bangladesh Nationalist Party government reduced a loop from the Khilgaon flyover. He was arrested by RAB and killed in custody. [4] After the caretaker government took over in 2006 the contracts of both Sarkar and Forrukh Ahmed, chief of Special Branch were terminated. [5]
Rapid Action Battalion or RAB, is an anti-crime and anti-terrorism unit of the Bangladesh Police. This elite force consists of members of the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Civil Service and Bangladesh Ansar. It was formed on 26 March 2004 as RAT, and commenced operations on 14 April 2004. From 2004 to 2008 RAB had killed 1,062 people.

Anwarul Iqbal was an adviser of 2007–2009 interim caretaker government of Bangladesh. He was appointed as Local Government and Rural Development Minister & Labour Minister of the non-party interim caretaker government of Bangladesh on 17 January 2007 and remained in that post until elections were held two years later. Later he was given the charge of the Jute & Textile Ministry. He had the responsibility to head three ministries of the government of Bangladesh. He served as the 25th Inspector General of Bangladesh police. He went into voluntary retirement from the IGP post after he had been made officer on special duty and within few days he took charge as the adviser of the caretaker government headed by Fakhruddin Ahmed during the state of emergency in Bangladesh which was declared on 11 January 2007.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is a specialized intelligence and investigation wing of the Bangladesh Police. It is headquartered in Malibagh, Dhaka and maintains a training school named the Detective Training School. Personnel attached to this wing essentially work in plain clothes. Mohammad Ali Mia, BPM, PPM is the head of the Criminal Investigation Department.
Enforced disappearances in Bangladesh are cases in which the Government of Bangladesh directly or indirectly kidnaps people and holds them incommunicado. According to a Dhaka-based human rights group Odhikar, at least 402 people have become victim of enforced disappearance from 2009 to 2017 under the current Awami League administration. These incidents along with extrajudicial killings in Bangladesh has been criticized by The United Nations and human rights groups including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), a special paramilitary unit in Bangladesh, is alleged to be behind most of these disappearances even though RAB claimed these allegations to be false. The current Awami League government denies involvement in these forced disappearances even when victims later surface in custody.

Operation Sundarbans or Operation Sundarban is a Bangladeshi wildlife action thriller movie. The film is co-written and directed by Dipankar Sengupta Dipon. The film is produced by RAB Welfare Cooperative Society Ltd. Nazim-ud-Doula and Dipon have written the screenplay. The plot is loosely based on real operations of RAB during surrender of robbers of Sundarbans as well as the struggle of Sundarbans' natives. It stars Riaz, Ziaul Roshan, Siam Ahmed, Taskeen Rahman, Shatabdi Wadud, Nusraat Faria and Darshana Banik, while Manoj Kumar Pramanik, debutant Samina Bashar, Dipu Imam, Ehsanur Rahman also joins the cast. The film begun its shooting on 20 December 2019 at Satkhira.
Allah'r Dal is an Islamic terrorist organisation operating in Bangladesh. The group also operates under the name Allah'r Sarkar. Bangladesh Enterprise Institute in their 2007-2008 Trends in Militancy in Bangladesh report referred to the group as an offshoot of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh. According to the report the group is most active in Kushtia District, Meherpur District, and Chuadanga District.

He is the former Additional Director General (Operations) at the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) an elite multi-service unit of the Bangladesh Police and oversaw crackdowns on Islamist militants. He has been sanctioned by the United States for his activities in RAB. He had previously commanded RAB-5, RAB-7, and RAB-11.
