Abdur Rahman is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the former Member of Parliament of Noakhali-5. He was a jute workers union leader. [1]
Rahman was born in Senbagh Upazila,Noakhali District. [2]
Rahman worked at a Jute mill in Narsingdi owned by Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation and where he was a union leader. [2] He had founded the Pakistan Jute Mills Labour Union in the 1960s. [2]
Rahman was elected to parliament from Noakhali-5 as an Awami League candidate in 1973. [3] He was affiliated with Bangladesh Chatkal Sramik Federation which was aligned with the Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League and went into decline after the government collapsed in 1975. [1]
Rahman was assassinated in 1981 after attending a meeting on the Labor Act. [2] [4]
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is one of the major political parties in Bangladesh. It was founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi president Ziaur Rahman,after the presidential election of 1978,with a view of uniting people with a nationalist ideology. Following Rahman's assassination in 1981,his widow,Khaleda Zia,took over leadership of the party and presided as chairperson until her imprisonment,in 2018. Since then,Tarique Rahman,the son of Rahman and Zia,has served as acting chairperson and has run the affairs of the party from London.

The Krishak Sramik Janata League is a political party in Bangladesh formed by Bangabir Kader Siddiqui,a renowned war hero who led the Kaderia Bahini during the Bangladesh's Liberation War of 1971,after he left Awami League in 1999. Although,the party adopted the Mujibist ideology,which is the ideology of Awami League,the party of Sheikh Mujib. The district of Tangail,which was headquarters of the Kaderia Bahini,is known as the "stronghold" of the party.

The 21 August 2004 Dhaka grenade attack took place at an anti-terrorism rally organised by Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue on 21 August 2004. The attack left 24 dead and more than 500 injured. The attack was carried out at 5:22 pm after Sheikh Hasina,the leader of opposition had finished addressing a crowd of 20,000 people from the back of a truck. The attacks targeted Awami League president Sheikh Hasina. Hasina was injured in the attack.The involvement of BNP-Jamaat led government is still debated to this date.
The Krishak Sramik Party was a major anti-feudal political party in the British Indian province of Bengal and later in the Dominion of Pakistan's East Bengal and East Pakistan provinces. It was founded in 1929 as the Nikhil Banga Praja Samiti to represent the interests of tenant farmers in Bengal's landed gentry estates. Sir Abdur Rahim was its first leader. A. K. Fazlul Huq was elected leader in 1935 when the former was appointed as the president of the Central Legislative Assembly of India. The premiership of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman began on January 12 of 1972 when he was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh after briefly serving as the President after returning from Pakistan's jail on January 10,1972. He served as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh until January 25,1975,for three years,and later led the parliament to adopt an amendment of the constitution that made him the President of Bangladesh,effectively for life.
