The Pussycat Dolls were an American girl group and dance ensemble, founded in Los Angeles, California, by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995 as a neo-burlesque troupe. At the suggestion of Jimmy Iovine, Antin decided to take the troupe mainstream as a pop group. Its production began in 2007, after the filming of Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious. Although it did not chart in the United States, Girlicious debuted at number two on the Canadian Albums Chart and was later certified platinum in the country.
