Ablo is a social networking service for instant communications owned by Massive Media, a Belgium-based company founded in 2011 acquired by Meetic, [3] a subsidiary of Match Group in 2012. [4] Ablo enables users to connect and make friends with people from anywhere in the world by having live one-to-one text and video conversations, using an automated translation feature. [5] [6]

History

The app was launched in January 2019 simultaneously on Android, iOS and web. It is available in more than 180 markets. It is especially popular with people aged 18–26 years old. [7]

In December 2019, it announced 6.5 million downloads globally and was selected as the Best App of 2019 by Google in the Google Play Store. [8] [9] Ablo was selected as one of the best Android apps of 2019 by CNET, alongside TikTok, Google Maps and Disney Plus. [10] Ablo was discontinued on 30 September 2022

Features

Ablo’s main feature is the ability to connect live with another person from anywhere in the world using automatically translated text and subtitled video calling. [11]

Zynn was a Chinese video-sharing social networking service owned by Kuaishou, a Beijing-based internet technology company established in 2011 by Su Hua and Cheng Yixiao. It was used to create and share short videos, and it pays its users for using the app and referring others. Zynn was launched on May 7, 2020. It became the most-downloaded app in the App Store in the same month. It has also been criticized for being a "pyramid scheme", and it has faced accusations of plagiarism and stealing content. Aside from Zynn in North America, Kuaishou is available under the name Kwai in Russia, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil, America, India, and the Middle East. Kwai used to be available in Australia and the United States on the App Store, but was removed at an unknown date. Zynn was permanently shut down on 20 August 2021.

Moj is an Indian video-sharing social networking service owned by Bangalore-based Mohalla Tech Pvt Ltd. It features special effects, emoticons, stickers and short videos that have a duration of 15 seconds to one minute under genres like dance, travel, singing, acting, comedy, and education. Moj allows users to download videos, and it supports 15 languages. Moj was released almost immediately after TikTok was banned by the Indian Government, and more than 100 million users downloaded it in just 6 months.
