Abominable Pictures is an American creator-driven comedy production company that develops and produces content for television, web and film.

Producer Jonathan Stern founded Abominable in 2006 to produce the first season of internet cult-hit Wainy Days with creator and frequent collaborator David Wain. The success of Wainy Days, which released its 40th episode in 2012, was followed by the web series Horrible People and Hot Sluts, both created by A.D. Miles, Funny or Die Presents on HBO, and Childrens Hospital , created by Rob Corddry.

Childrens Hospital became a television show on Adult Swim, where it aired seven seasons and won two Emmy awards. [1]

Abominable has also produced three seasons of procedural-crime comedy NTSF:SD:SUV:: , created by Paul Scheer, and two seasons of You’re Whole, created by Michael Ian Black, both on Adult Swim as well as two seasons of Newsreaders , a fake-newsmagazine spinoff of Childrens Hospital and the first season of Garfunkel & Oates which aired on IFC. Abominable has also produced a collection of parody infomercials for Adult Swim; the second and third sets are currently in post-production.

At the same time, Abominable has maintained an active web series slate, led by 3 seasons of the popular, [2] Emmy-nominated [3] Bachelor parody Burning Love for both Yahoo and E!. Abominable recently premiered The Hotwives of Orlando on Hulu to fantastic reviews. [4] It is currently in post-production on the courtroom parody Beef for Paramount Digital. Abominable has a first-look deal with Fox for comedy projects on digital platforms. [5]

Executive Producer Jonathan Stern's past projects as a producer include the pilot of Louie on FX and feature films Oxygen, Mexico City, Scotland, PA , The Vagina Monologues, Confess, Diggers , and David Wain's The Ten .

The series, in which two wealthy teen siblings try to re-climb the social ladder after being presumed lost at sea, parodies teen dramas such as Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl. It debuted on April 26, 2016, as part of the first slate of programming on multi-channel network Fullscreen's eponymous subscription video-on-demand platform as a half-hour format program with an eight-episode order.

You're Whole is an American satirical television series created by Michael Ian Black for Adult Swim. The show parodies self-help infomercials and stars Black as the host, Randall Tyree Mandersohn. In it, Mandersohn advertises his systems of objects and actions designed to help people with their issues. It was the production of Abominable Pictures, with which Black originally consulted with the premise of the show in mind. Meanwhile, Michael Showalter, longtime collaborator of Black, served as the director.

<i>Medical Police</i> 2020 American comedy streaming television series

Medical Police is an American comedy television series, created by Rob Corddry, Krister Johnson, Jonathan Stern and David Wain, that premiered on Netflix on January 10, 2020. It is a spin-off of the short-form alt-comedy series Childrens Hospital, that parodied medical dramas, whereas Medical Police is a parody of international spy thrillers. The series stars Erinn Hayes and Rob Huebel as Childrens Hospital doctors Lola Spratt and Owen Maestro. When they discover a world-threatening virus, they are recruited as government agents in a globe-spanning race to find a cure. In the process, they unmask a deep conspiracy amidst the outbreak. Released during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, the series' depiction of a global disease outbreak has been described as "inadvertently timely."
