Anas bin Ali bin Abdul-Aziz al-Nashwan (Arabic:أنس علي عبد العزيز آل نشوان), known as Abu Malik al-Tamimi, was a Saudi Arabian Islamic militant. He was number three on the Saudi list of most wanted suspected terrorists published by the Saudi government in December 2011. [1] [2]

History

He graduated from Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh and was a member of the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Saudi Arabia). He left Saudi Arabia in 2009 for Afghanistan, where he was active as a member of al-Qaeda and fought in Kunar and Nuristan and was lightly wounded. He was appointed as a member of their sharia council. [3]

It currently has more than 24,000 students and 1,300 faculty. It has intermediate and secondary Islamic institutes in major cities of Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Djibouti and Japan. The university as a cultural and intellectual institution aims to promote knowledge offering undergraduate as well as postgraduate studies. One of the most important aims is to promote translating and publishing as the university has its own print house. Moreover, the university achieves its goals within the Islamic Shari'a.

The Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, is a Saudi government religious authority charged with implementing the Hisbah system inspired by Islamic law. It is described by some media as "religious police " or, "Mutaween" and sometimes "Hai’a" only for a shortcut. The number of members of the committee in Saudi Arabia is estimated about 3,500-4,000 men and founded in 1940.

He later moved to Syria and joined the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, appearing in a 19 April 2015 IS video release titled "Until There Came to Them Clear Evidence", which showed the killing of Ethiopian Christians in Libya.

ISIL gained global prominence in early 2014 when it drove Iraqi government forces out of key cities in its Western Iraq offensive, followed by its capture of Mosul and the Sinjar massacre.

He was killed in clashes with the Syrian Arab Army in May 2015 near Al-Sukhnah, Syria. [4] [5]

Al-Sukhnah is a town in eastern Syria under the administration of the Homs Governorate, located east of Homs in the Syrian Desert. Nearby localities include Mayadin and al-Asharah to the east, al-Taybah and Raqqa to the north, Salamiyah to the west, Arak and Tadmur (Palmyra) to the southwest.
