Acen Rhoda

Acen Rhoda is a Ugandan politician. She was the Forum for Democratic Change representative in the eighth Parliament of Uganda under Amuria District. [1] Rhoda was named after a primary school located in Amusus, Kuju, County, Amuria District called Rhoda Acen Primary School. [2]

Political career

During her political office, Acen said that women in Katakwi in the Eastern Uganda have been selling their children each at for 3,000 Uganda Shillings to fend for their families after their husbands fled ahead of the disarmament exercise in the region. [1] This was mentioned by Rhoda while addressing the women Member of Parliament during a workshop organised by the Uganda Women's Network and funded by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy. [1] The workshop was on women's rights under multiparty democracy held at Entebbe Imperial Resort Beach Hotel. [1] In 2020, Rhoda bounced back after beating Susan Amero, the incumbent Member of Parliament. [3] In 2007, she was among the Teso Parliamentary Group who addressed a press conference at Parliament where they displayed some of the rotten samples of the beans supplied by the Government as relief to their people. [4]

Cuthbert Joseph Obwangor was a longtime Ugandan minister and legislator. He was a minister and a political prisoner for the Apollo Milton Obote regime after he opposed Obote's extension of power while Obwangor was a minister.

Peter Ogwang Ugandan politician

Peter Ogwang is a Ugandan politician. He is the current Minister of State for Sports in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 22nd July 2022, replacing Denis Obua. Previously, he was the State Minister for Economic Monitoring and had earlier served as the State Minister for Information, Communication, ICT and National Guidance. He is also the elected Member of Parliament for Usuk County in Katakwi District, in the 10th Parliament (2016-2021).

Dorcus Acen also known as Dorcas Acen is a Ugandan politician and Alebtong District Women's Representative in the eleventh Parliament of Uganda. She stood as the Alebtong District Women's Representative in the tenth Parliament of Uganda as an independent politician however she lost to Christine Acen attached to the National Resistance Movement. Christine Acen was the elected woman MP for Alebtong in the 2016. Christine completed Senior Six and started running her business.

Violet A Akurut also known as Akurut Violet Adome is a Ugandan politician and teacher by profession. She is the district woman representative of Katakwi District in the 10th Parliament of Uganda. She is a member of the National Resistance Movement political party. She was the aspiring Woman Member of Parliament 2021-2026, of Katakwi under NRM political party.

Esther Opoti Dhugira was a Ugandan legislator and Woman Member of Parliament for Nebbi District in Uganda's 7th Parliament. In Uganda's Constituent Assembly between 1994 and 1995, she represented Okoro County in Nebbi. Dhugira alongside Winnie Byanyima and others was one of the founders of Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE)
