San Marino, officially the Republic of San Marino, also known as the Most Serene Republic of San Marino, is a microstate in Southern Europe completely enclosed by Italy.

To promote the entry, Serhat embarked on a promotional tour in Europe in the lead up the Eurovision Song Contest. San Marino performed eighth in the first semi-final, held on 10 May 2016, and placed 12th with 68 points, failing to qualify for the grand final.
The COVID-19 pandemic in San Marino is part of the ongoing worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The virus was confirmed to have reached San Marino in February 2020.
