The first round of the Acre gubernatorial election was held on 5 October 2014 to elect the next Governor of the state of Acre. No candidate won 50% of the vote and thus a second-round runoff election was held on 26 October. [1] Governor Tião Viana was re-elected for a second term.

Acre (state) State of Brazil

Acre is a state located in the northern region of Brazil. Located in the westernmost part of the country with a two hours time difference from Brasília, Acre is bordered clockwise by Amazonas to the north and northeast, Rondônia to the east, the Bolivian department of Pando to the southeast, and the Peruvian regions of Madre de Dios, Ucayali and Loreto to the south and west. It occupies an area of 152,581.4 km2, being slightly smaller than Tunisia.

Sebastião Afonso Viana Macedo Neves, better known as Tião Viana, is a doctor and Brazilian politician. He was formerly Governor of Acre and is a member of the Workers' Party.

Workers Party (Brazil) Brazilian political party

The Workers' Party is a democratic socialist political party in Brazil. Launched in 1980, it is one of the largest movements of Latin America. PT governed at the federal level in a coalition government with several other parties from 1 January 2003 to 31 August 2016. After the 2002 parliamentary election, PT became the largest party in the Chamber of Deputies and the largest in the Federal Senate for the first time ever. With the highest approval rating in the history of the country, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is PT's most prominent member. His successor Dilma Rousseff, also a member of PT, took office on 1 January 2011.

The Democrats is a political party in Brazil. It was founded in 1985 under the name of Liberal Front Party from a dissidence of the defunct PDS, successor to the ARENA, the official party during the military dictatorship of 1964–1985. It changed to its current name in 2007. The original name reflected the party's support of free market policies, rather than the identification with international liberal parties. Instead, the party affiliated itself to the international federations of Christian democratic (CDI) and conservative parties (IDU). The Democrats' identification number is 25 and its colors are green, blue, and white.

Acrelândia Municipality in Acre, Brazil

Acrelândia is a municipality located in the easternmost portion of the Brazilian state of Acre. Its population is 8,695 and its area is 1,575 km², which makes it the smallest municipality in that state.

If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, a second-round runoff election will be held on 26 October. Governor Jaques Wagner is ineligible to run due to term limits. In a stunning upset, the PT nominee Rui Costa won the election with 54.5% of valid votes against 37.3% of Paulo Souto in the first-round.

The Paraná gubernatorial election will be held on 5 October 2014 to elect the next Governor of the state of Paraná. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, a second-round runoff election will be held on 26 October. Governor Beto Richa successfully ran for reelection, winning without the need for a runoff.

2018 Acre gubernatorial election

The Acre gubernatorial election was held on 7 October 2018 to elect the next governor of the state, 8 federal deputies and two out of its three senators. Senator Gladson Cameli won 53% of the vote in the first round, making him the elected governor of Acre without the need of a runoff. Senator Sérgio Petecão was reelected with 30% of the vote and former congressman Márcio Bittar was elected with 23% of the vote, unseating Jorge Viana, on of the incumbent senators.

Carla Zambelli Salgado is a project manager and Brazilian political and political activist. Founder of the movement On the Streets, gained notoriety by the activism in favor of the impeachment of the ex-president Dilma Rousseff. In the elections of 2018, she was elected federal deputy by São Paulo, by the Social Liberal Party (PSL).
