Actus Tragicus, sometimes credited as Actus Comics or simply Actus, is a group of five Israeli comics artists founded in 1995 by Rutu Modan and Yirmi Pinkus. Other members include Batia Kolton, Itzik Rennert and Mira Friedmann.
Actus Tragicus was founded to enable its members, all professional illustrators and comics artists, to reach an audience outside of Israel by publishing a book each year, free of any cultural limitations or economic hindrances. Their books appear around the time of the Angoulême International Comics Festival in France where they receive their first public exposure. The group has won international acclaim and was described in 2007 by the ID design magazine as one of the most prominent contemporary design groups. Well known international comics artists such as Anke Feuchtenberger and Henning Wagenbreth (Germany), Stéphane Blanquet (France) and David Polonsky (Israel) participated in the Actus Tragicus projects. Actus Tragicus have published nine books and numerous series so far, as well as a special comics album, Dead Herring Comics, which featured an excerpt from Art Spiegelman's In the Shadow of No Towers .

Eddie Campbell is a British comics artist and cartoonist who now lives in Chicago. Probably best known as the illustrator and publisher of From Hell, Campbell is also the creator of the semi-autobiographical Alec stories collected in Alec: The Years Have Pants, and Bacchus, a wry adventure series about the few Greek gods who have survived to the present day.
The Ignatz Awards recognize outstanding achievements in comics and cartooning by small press creators or creator-owned projects published by larger publishers. They have been awarded each year at the Small Press Expo since 1997, only skipping a year in 2001 due to the show's cancellation after the September 11 attacks. As of 2014 SPX has been held in either Bethesda, North Bethesda, or Silver Spring, Maryland.

The White City is a collection of over 4,000 buildings in Tel Aviv from the 1930s built in a unique form of the International Style, commonly known as Bauhaus, by Jewish architects who fled to the British Mandate of Palestine from Germany after the rise to power of the Nazis. Tel Aviv has the largest number of buildings in the Bauhaus/International Style of any city in the world. Preservation, documentation, and exhibitions have brought attention to Tel Aviv's collection of 1930s architecture. In 2003, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) proclaimed Tel Aviv's White City a World Cultural Heritage site, as "an outstanding example of new town planning and architecture in the early 20th century." The citation recognized the unique adaptation of modern international architectural trends to the cultural, climatic, and local traditions of the city. Bauhaus Center Tel Aviv organizes regular architectural tours of the city.
In the Shadow of No Towers is a 2004 work of comics by American cartoonist Art Spiegelman. It is about Spiegelman's reaction to the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001. It was originally serialized as a comic strip in the German newspaper Die Zeit from 2002 until 2004, and was collected as an oversized board book in 2004 with early American comic strips as supplementary material.
Rutu Modan is an Israeli illustrator and comic book artist. She is co-founder of the Israeli comics group Actus Tragicus and published the graphic novels Exit Wounds (2007) and The Property (2013).
David (Dudu) Gerstein is an Israeli painter, sculptor, draftsman, and printmaker. He began as a figurative painter and was recipient of the Israel Museum Prize for illustration. At the end of the 1970s he wished to expand the limits of two-dimensional painting, into painting in three-dimensions. He began cutting out the main subjects of each painting and to cancel the background, creating a unique and iconic cutout images, free standing in space, without the standard and traditional square frame.
Sharon Rotbard, is an Israeli architect, publisher and author, senior lecturer at the Architecture department in the Bezalel Academy, Jerusalem.
Mordechai (Motti) Mizrachi is an Israeli multimedia artist who creates politically engaged conceptual works that combine sculpture, video, photography, public art and performance. Dough, Via Dolorosa (1973) and Healing (1980) marked the emergence of avant-garde Israeli performance and video art. Since the 1980s, he has created numerous site specific public sculptures.
Sigalit Ethel Landau is an Israeli sculptor, video and installation artist.
Shmuel Katz was an Israeli artist, illustrator, and cartoonist. A Holocaust survivor and postwar immigrant to Mandate Palestine via the detention camps on Cyprus, he figured prominently in Israeli illustration and newspaper cartooning, widely exhibiting and publishing his drawings and paintings at home and abroad, for which he won numerous local and international awards. His sketches and watercolors are known for their sprightly lines and touches of humor.
Shuka –Yehoshua (Joshua) Glotman is a mixed-media artist including photography, experimental filmmaking, installation and text. Currently he is lecturing in the Tel-Aviv University and in the Beer-Sheba University. He is a curator and a group facilitator specializing in facilitating discussion between Israelis and Palestinians. Glotman lives in a small village in the Upper Western Galilee.
Miriam Cabessa is an Israeli-American painter, performance and installation artist. Cabessa was born in Morocco, raised in Israel, and has lived and worked in New York City since 2000. Her slow action painting has been internationally recognized since 1997 when she represented Israel at the Venice Biennale. Over the past two decades, she has abstained from using brushes, opting to make marks with objects and her body. Her imagery ranges from organic to mechanistic with surfaces that are both haptically handmade and digitally serene. Cabessa has shown extensively in the U.S., Europe, and Israel.
Tami Katz-Freiman, former Chief Curator of the Haifa Museum of Art, is an art historian, curator and critic, based in Miami, Florida, where she works as an independent curator of contemporary art.
Nira Pereg is an Israeli artist. She spent the 90s in New-York, where she received her BFA from Cooper Union at NYC. On her return to Israel, she graduated from the Bezalel MFA studio program in Jerusalem, and has been teaching internationally ever since.

Moshe Roas is an Israeli artist, who works in sculpture, drawing, printmaking and installation art. He has exhibited in galleries and museums in Netherlands, (Germany), Poland, United States, South Korea and Israel. These include the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Eretz Israel Museum, the Jerusalem Print Workshop and the Tel Aviv Artists' House.
