Ada Baillie Good or Mrs T. D. Good (1879-1958) was an Irish badminton player.
Ada Good was born Ada Baillee Carroll. Good, alongside her future husband T. D. Good, took part in the first international badminton match to be played in Ireland in 1903 at the Irish Open as Miss Carroll. [2] She played her last international match in 1929. [3] [4]
In 1953, Good, her husband, Sir George Thomas, and Leonard Ransford attended a Golden Jubilee lunch held by the Badminton Union of Ireland, as the only four surviving players from the 1903 international matches. They had four children, three of whom also played badminton at national and international level, Derreen, Barbara, and Norman. [3]
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" and "doubles". Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the other team's half of the court.
Baron Burton, of Burton-on-Trent and of Rangemore in the County of Stafford, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1897 for the prominent brewer, philanthropist and Liberal politician Michael Bass, 1st Baron Burton. He had already been created a baronet in 1882 and Baron Burton in 1886. However, the three titles had different remainders. The Bass family descended from William Bass, who founded the brewery business of Bass & Co in Burton upon Trent in 1777. His grandson Michael Thomas Bass transformed the company into one of the largest breweries in the United Kingdom. He also represented Derby in Parliament as a Liberal for thirty-five years and was a great benefactor to the town of Burton. However, Bass declined every honour offered to him, including a baronetcy and a peerage.
Mia Audina Tjiptawan is a former Indonesian badminton player who represented Indonesia and later the Netherlands in international competitions. A badminton prodigy, Audina first played Uber Cup for Indonesia at age fourteen, winning the decisive final match in the championship round against China in 1994. She was briefly ranked as the World No.1 women's singles player in October 1996. Audina helped Indonesia to retain the Uber Cup title in 1996, and was a member of the 1998 Indonesian team which relinquished the Cup to China, before moving to the Netherlands with her Dutch-national husband in 2000.
Dorothea Lambert Chambers was a British tennis player. She won seven Wimbledon women's singles titles and a gold medal at the 1908 Summer Olympics.
Robert James Hamilton Lambert was an Irish cricketer. A right-handed batsman and a right-arm off spin bowler, he played 51 times for the Ireland cricket team between 1893 and 1930, including 23 first-class matches, captaining them on 13 occasions. He also played first-class cricket for London County and Woodbrook Club and Ground. On his death, the Wisden Cricketer's Almanack described him as the best all-rounder produced by Ireland.

Thelma Kingsbury (1911–1979), was an English-born, naturalised American sportswoman who won major badminton titles in the British Isles and then in the US from the early 1930s to the early 1950s.
Ethel Larcombe was a British female tennis player and badminton player. She won the ladies' singles tennis title at the 1912 Wimbledon Championships as well as 11 badminton titles at the All England Badminton Championships.

Chloe Noelle Magee is an Irish professional badminton player. She represented her country at the Olympic Games for three consecutive times in 2008 Beijing, 2012 London, and 2016 Rio de Janeiro. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, she became the first Irish woman to win a badminton match at the Olympics. She has been described as "the poster girl for Irish badminton". Together with her brother Sam Magee, she clinched a bronze medal at the 2017 European Championships, became Ireland's first medal at the European Badminton Championship. The duo also captured the bronze medals at the 2015 and 2019 European Games.
The 1904 All England Championships was a badminton tournament held at the London Rifle Brigade Drill Hall in Islington, London, England from 16 to 19 March 1904.
Badminton was introduced and only played at the 1981 World Games. The badminton events of World Games I were held on July 25–28, 1981, at the San Jose Civic Auditorium in San Jose, California, in the United States. These were the first World Games, an international quadrennial multi-sport event, and were hosted by the city of Santa Clara. China, in its first summer multi-sport event since the 1936 Summer Olympics, competed in badminton only, winning four of the five gold medals. Seventeen of the countries at these Games participated in badminton, making it one of the most represented sports. The players executive of the International Badminton Federation, Ciro Ciniglio, expressed disappointment at the lack of media coverage of badminton, saying, "We have many world champions competing here and ... were hoping all these great players would draw crowds. ... The United States over the years has had very good players, some of the finest. It was our hope to help the sport gain popularity in the United states by showcasing all this fine talent."
Albert Davis Prebble was an English badminton and tennis player and a prominent badminton official. He captained the England badminton team in their first international match against Ireland in 1903. He won the All England badminton men's doubles three times. He also won the badminton mixed doubles in 1909 with Dora Boothby, the same year that he reached the Wimbledon Championships mixed doubles final with the same partner.
Svetlana Zilberman is an Israeli badminton player and coach. In 1986, she won a bronze medal at the European Badminton Championships in the women's singles event. She also serves as coach of her son Olympic badminton player Misha Zilberman, and as coach of Israel's national badminton team
Dorothy Cunningham Donaldson was an Irish sportswoman who was most prominent in the hockey, badminton and golf circles where she won a plethora of competitions during her 71-year playing career. She played for the Ireland women's national field hockey team between 1941 and 1947 except for the 1942 season. Donaldson was additionally a women's singles and mixed doubles champion in the Irish National Badminton Championships and until 1957 played for the Irish international team.
