Joel Daniel Coen and Ethan Jesse Coen, collectively known as the Coen brothers are American filmmakers. Their films span many genres and styles, which they frequently subvert or parody. The millionaire Lebowski's trophy wife is kidnapped, and he commissions The Dude to deliver the ransom to secure her release; the plan goes awry when the Dude's friend Walter Sobchak schemes to keep the ransom money. Sam Elliott, Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi, John Turturro, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Tara Reid, David Thewlis, Peter Stormare, and Ben Gazzara also appear, in supporting roles.

John Michael Turturro is an American actor and filmmaker. He is known for his contributions to the independent film movement. He began his acting career on-screen in the early 1980s, and received early critical recognition with the independent film Five Corners (1987). In 2011, he performed in playwright Tony Kushner's Off-Broadway play The Illusion and made his Broadway debut in 2012 as Happy Loman in the revival of Arthur Miller's play Death of a Salesman, directed by Mike Nichols.
