Admiral Taverns is a pub company in the UK. Founded in 2003 by the Landesberg and Rosenberg families in London. It is now owned by John Timothy Morris of Proprium Capital Partners.
From 2004 to 2010, the pubco grew with a series of 13 acquisitions which took its total number of venues to over 3,000. [1] In 2014 Admiral acquired 111 pubs from Star Pubs & Bars. [2]
In 2013, US investment firm Cerberus Capital Management acquired Admiral in a £200 million deal from Lloyd's Banking Group, which had been a shareholder since a debt refinancing deal in 2009. [3] In 2017, Magners' producer C&C Group and US investor Proprium Capital Partners acquired Admiral, with C&C investing £37 million. [4] In 2021, C&C offloaded its stake in Admiral to Proprium for £55 million. [5]
In 2017, Admiral bought 29 venues from Star Pubs & Bars in a deal with G1. [6] This was followed by a deal for 150 more Star Pubs venues in 2019, bringing Admiral's total number of pubs to around 950. [7] In November 2019, another 137 pubs were acquired from Marston's for £44.9m, in a deal that helped Marston's reduce its debt. [8]
In 2021, Admiral acquired 650 pubs from Hawthorn for £222.3m, taking the company's total to 1,600 pubs. [9] In May 2024, Admiral announced the purchase of 37 tenanted pubs from Fuller, Smith and Turner for £18.3 million. [10]
A pub is in several countries a drinking establishment licensed to serve alcoholic drinks for consumption on the premises. Brains is a regional brewery based in Cardiff, Wales. It was founded in 1882 by Samuel Arthur Brain. At its peak, the company controlled more than 250 pubs in South Wales, Mid Wales and the West Country but the brewer sold most of its pub estate in 2022. The company took over Crown Buckley Brewery in Llanelli in 1997 and Hancock's Brewery in 1999. In 2000, Brains moved to the former Hancock's Brewery just south of Cardiff Central railway station. The Old Brewery, in Cardiff city centre, has been developed into a modern bar and restaurant complex.

Food & Fuel Pubs was a small, independent gastropub and cafe bar chain in London. The firm was established in June 2006, when it bought five pubs from Punch Taverns. It ran eleven sites in Central and West London, including Richmond, Chiswick, Pimlico, Marylebone, Kensington and Chelsea.
The Pubs Code etc. Regulations 2016 were introduced by the UK Government as part of the Small Business Enterprise and Employment Act 2015. The code was passed on 14 June 2016 and implemented on 21 July 2016.
