Bacău is the main city in Bacău County, Romania. With a population of 136,087, Bacău is the 14th largest city in Romania. The city is situated in the historical region of Moldavia, at the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, and on the Bistrița River. The Ghimeș Pass links Bacău to the region of Transylvania.

The Aerostar Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Bacău, Romania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Aerostar Bacău. The stadium holds 1,500 people and is located near the airport.

Marian Tănasă is a former Romanian footballer who played as a forward for various teams that include but are not limited to FCM Bacău, Oțelul Galați or FCMU Baia Mare. In 2014, when he was still an active player, Tănasă for a short period was the manager of Liga III side Aerostar Bacău. After retirement, Tănasă was the coach of women's football club Pisicile Roșii Bacău. Since 2017, he has assumed the position as manager of youth academy Star Bacău.

Cristian Popovici is a Romanian former professional footballer and currently a manager. As a footballer Popovici played nine years for FCM Bacău, being an important member of the team that beat Steaua București with 5-1 right on the Steaua Stadium and also had appearances in European competitions as UEFA Cup or UEFA Intertoto Cup. After retirement, Popovici started his football manager career, being well known for coaching especially teams from Bacău and Moldavia such as: Aerostar Bacău, FCM Bacău, SC Bacau, FC Botoșani or Foresta Suceava, the only interruptions consisting of two short spells at Dinamo II București and Metaloglobus București.

The Constantin Anghelache Stadium, known until 2012 as Letea Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Bacău, Romania. Since 27 September 2012, the stadium is named Stadionul Constantin Anghelache in the honor of the former coach who founded the High School of Football Bacău, which was the first football high school with a football program from Romania and also coached children and juniors, teaching and forming generations of players from Bacău, 67 of them reaching the senior or junior national teams of Romania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Liga III sides Dinamo Bacău and CSM Bacău. Opened in the early 1970s the stadium was for most of its existence the home ground of Letea Bacău, team that would become second team of FCM Bacău in the early 2000s. Between 2006 and 2017 the stadium was also used by Gauss Bacău, team known in the past also as Mesagerul Bacău or SC Bacău. The stadium holds 2,000 people.
