Africa Art Fashion Show is an annual international fashion week, held in Kampala, Uganda, that highlights African culture in a series of fashion shows, events, educational seminars, and workshops. [1] [2] The event features collections that reflect the traditions of Africa and the local designers in Uganda.

Contents

History

Started in 2022 by Nalwoga Cerinah Kasirye, [3] the event focused on marginalised girls and youths who managed to come up with unique designs for the show with an African touch. [4] In 2023, Ms Nalwoga Cerinah, used the show as a platform fight stigma against vitiligo. [3] The most recent event took place at MOTIV. [5]

Edrisah Kenzo Musuuza, professionally known as Eddy Kenzo, is a Ugandan singer, music executive, the president and founder of Uganda National Musicians Federation and a member of Big Talent Entertainment. He made his breakthrough after the release of his single Stamina. He received international attention after the release of his single, "Sitya Loss" in 2014 and an accompanying viral video that featured the Ghetto Kids. In total, he has released 4 albums, including Roots in 2018 and most recently Made in Africa in 2021. Kenzo has also won a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award in 2018, a BET Award in 2015, and multiple All Africa Music Awards.

Brigadier Flavia Byekwaso, is a Ugandan military officer, who served as an elected member of parliament representing the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) in the 10th Parliament (2016–2021). On 1 August 2020, she was appointed Spokesperson of the UPDF, replacing Brigadier Richard Karemire, who was transferred to the East African Community headquarters as the Defence Liaison Officer. In January 2022 she was dropped as UPDF spokesperson and sent for further training at the Uganda National Defence College.

Cerinah is the founder and CEO of Afri Art Fashion Show, Trillion Looks Store a handicraft social enterprise, working with women and youth artisans to develop and promote Ugandan Souvenir handicrafts She has several advisory positions including MD at Eden Conserve.

The Hoima Sports Stadium, formerly FUFA Rujumba Stadium Hoima, is a multi-purpose stadium under construction in Uganda. It is intended to be used for the first time, during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations soccer tournament. The stadium is one of the three stadia that Uganda plans to use during the tournament, that will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
