Afsan Chowdhury (born 16 February 1952) is a Bangladeshi liberation war researcher, columnist and journalist. He received Bangla Academy Award in the year 2018 for his contribution to the liberation war literature. [1]

Early life

Chowdhury was born on 16 February 1952 in Dhaka. [2] After completing his higher education from the Department of History in Dhaka University, he started his career in journalism. During his career as a journalist, he served as an editor for Dhaka Courier, contributed to The Daily Star and also produced a number of BBC World Service series. [3] He was also one of the founder Promoter of United News of Bangladesh, one of the country's leading news agencies. [3] He is a teacher of BRAC University and runs the Diversity Studies Cluster there. [4]

Bangla Academy

Bangla Academy is an autonomous institution funded by Bangladesh government to promote and foster the Bengali language, literature and culture, to develop and implement national language policy and to do original research in the Bengali language. Established in 1955, it is located in Burdwan House in Ramna, Dhaka, within the grounds of the University of Dhaka and Suhrawardy Udyan. Bangla Academy hosts the annual Ekushey Book Fair.

Munier Choudhury

Anisuzzaman Bangladeshi academic

Anisuzzaman was a Bangladeshi academic of Bengali literature. He was an activist who took part in the Language Movement (1952), participated in Mass Uprising (1969), and took part in the War of Liberation (1971). He was a member of the Planning Commission to the Government of Bangladesh during the Bangladesh liberation war and a member of the National Education Commission set up by the government after liberation. Mahbub Talukdar

Mahbub Talukdar is a Bangladeshi renowned poet, juvenile writer and one of the incumbent Election Commissioners of Bangladesh. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2012 for his contribution in juvenile literature.

Shahadat Chowdhury was a Bangladeshi journalist and editor of several news magazines. He served as the editor of Weekly Bichitra from 1972 until its publication was ceased in 1997. He then served as the editor of Shaptahik 2000 and Anandadhara.
