Agim Sulaj (born 6 September 1960, in Vlora, Albania) is an Albanian painter, living in Rimini, Italy since 1990 and having Italian citizenship. [1]

Biography

After high school, in 1978 Agim Sulaj entered the Tirana Academy des Baux Artes, and completed his studies at the Fine Arts Academy of Tirana in 1985. [2] As a painter, he started working in the political and satirical magazine Hosteni, producing illustrations and caricatures. At the same time, he was developing the skill of hyperrealistic painting. [3] He started to make his own works and he became famous by the Large scale oil paint "The Head of Ali Pasha Tepelena, presented to Sultan Mahmut II" (today the Museum of Ali pasha, Ioannina, Greece). Agim Sulaj won the 2010 edition of the "Cartoonsea" Italian national award for humor and satire, [4] [5] [6] presided the jury in the 'CartoonSea 2011' edition [7] and won second prize in the international competition "Brothers of Italy". [8] His work has been called "a fine, surreal satirical illustration, metaphor for the state of the environment and the failure to protect it". [9]

Houmayoun Mahmoudi / Homayoun Mahmoudi, born 1966 in Tehran, is an Iranian/British cartoonist, graphic artist and designer. He studied graphic design at the University of Tehran and graduated in animation from Tarbiat Modares University. Skilled in his own style of minimal cartoon, he has his own technique of working on sandpapers. Mahmoudi is married to Nooshin Moradi, a fashion artist, and moved to the United Kingdom in 2004 and worked as a freelance designer and international artist. He is currently doing PhD research in art and design at Manchester Metropolitan University. He has won numerous international cartoon contests around the world since 1994 and his artworks are exhibited in modern art exhibitions globally.
