Ahmed Gacmayare is a Somali politician who was from 2008 until 2012 the spokesperson for the SSC movement, [1] and in 2012 became the minister for information and culture. [2]

The Dhulbahante is a Somali clan family, part of the Harti clan which itself belongs to the largest Somali clan-family — the Darod. In Somaliland, the Dhulbahante primarily settle in the regions of Sool, Sanaag and Togdheer. They also have a significant presence in Jubbaland, southern Somalia, particularly in the city of Kismayo. Harti, meaning "strong man", is a Somali clan family that is part of the Darod clan. The major sub-clans include the Majeerteen, Dhulbahante, Warsangali and Dishiishe, while other minor sub-clans consist of Kaskiqabe, Geesaguule and Liibaangashe.

The Habr Awal, also contemporarily known as the Subeer Awal, and alternately romanized as the Zubeyr Awal is a major clan of the wider Isaaq clan family, and is further divided into eight sub-clans of whom the two largest and most prominent are the Sa'ad Musa and Issa Musa sub-clans. Its members form a part of the Habr Magaadle confederation. The Habr Awal traditionally consists of nomadic pastoralists, coastal people, merchants and farmers. They are historically viewed as an affluent clan relative to other Somali clans. The Habr Awal are politically and economically influential in present-day Somaliland, and reside in strategic coastal and fertile lands.

The Banaadiri people are a nationality in Somalia. Banaadiris largely inhabit Somalia's southern coastline.

Buuhoodle, also known as Bohotle, is a city in the Togdheer region of Somaliland. It is a prominent border town for movements of goods to and from Somaliland and the Somali Region of Ethiopia. The surrounding district is rich in both livestock and fledgeling agriculture.

Khatumo State Former proto-state in Somaliland

Khatumo State, officially the Khatumo State of Somalia, is an unrecognised Federal Member State in Somalia. Centred on the Sool, Sanaag regions and the Buuhoodle district of Togdheer region. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 2012. On 20 October 2017 in Aynaba, an agreement was signed with the Somaliland government which stipulated the amendment of Somaliland's constitution and to re-integrate the territory into the Somaliland. On October 26th 2021 Khatumo State of Somalia exited the Somaliland agreement after Somaliland failed to implement the agreement.

A prominent figure in traditional Somali music, her art and legislative work were centered on political and social justice. She was killed by Islamists in Mogadishu.

Reer Faqay, also known as Banu Qahtan, is a Somali clan and a Benadiri sub clan. It is primarily found in the southern coastal cities of Mogadishu, Marka, Baraawe and Kismayo. They established communities in the hinterlands in towns such as Afgooye, Baidoa, Diinsoor and Bardheere.

The Musa Abokor is a Somali clan, and a major sub-division of the Habr Je'lo clan of the Isaaq clan-family.

The Sa'ad Musa or Saad Musa is a northern Somali clan. Its members form a part of the Habr Awal clan of the Isaaq clan family. The Sa'ad Musa traditionally consists of nomadic pastoralists, coastal people, merchants and farmers. The clan inhabits Somaliland, including Maroodi Jeex, and Sahil as well as Djibouti, the Somali Region of Ethiopia and Kenya.

The Farah Garad or Garad Farah is a Somali clan. Its part of the Dhulbahante clan-family, a sub-division of the larger Harti/Darod clan. The Farah Garad are divided into three major sub-clans — Ahmed Garad, Baharsame and Barkad. Numerically, the largest of these three subclans is the Ahmed Garad, which itself subdivides into Ararsame and Reer Khayr.

The Baho Nugaaleed, is a Somali clan confederation that forms part of the Dhulbahante clan-family. The primary homeland of these clans includes the regions of Sool and Togdheer in Somaliland, the Lower Juba region in Somalia and the Dollo Zone in Ethiopia. The Bah Nugaaleed is subdivided into three major sub-clans ― the Ugaasyo, the Reer Aymeed and Reer Oodeed.
