Vice Chancellor Prof. Akbar Masood

Professor Akbar Masood is the Vice Chancellor at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in Jammu and Kashmir. Before joining Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, he served as the Dean of Academic Affairs at the University of Kashmir. He has a Master of Sciences from Aligarh Muslim University and a PhD from the Indian Institute of Toxicology Research. He remained associated with the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Kashmir as a member of the faculty since 1988. [1] [2] [3] He was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in February 2021. [4]

Masood remained the Head Department of Biochemistry, University of Kashmir for 18 years. He also remained Dean Faculty of Biological Sciences and Dean Faculty of Unani and Ayurvedic Medicine at University of Kashmir. He has more then 250 publications in national and international Journals and has attended national and international seminars, symposia, workshops and conferences. He has been an active researcher in the field of environmental biochemistry, phytotoxicology, protein biochemistry, enzymology, medicinal plants and bioinformatics. He has written 15 books and has supervised 50 Ph.D and M.Phil degrees during his career over three decades of teaching and research. For his contributions, he was awarded a National Environmental Science Academy fellowship in 2005 and International Benevolent Research Fellowship in 2006. In 2007, he was awarded fellowship by International Biotechnology Society, Indore and fellowship by society of Toxicology, India. In 2008, he was elected as an associate of the Society of Toxicologic Pathology, Reston VA, USA. He was awarded a fellowship of Linnaean Society of London in 2008. In 2010, he was awarded Pioneers in Genomic Education award by Ocimumbio USA in 2010 and was elected as a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemists, England. He was rated as excellent teacher by the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance University of Kashmir.

M. Afzal Hossain is a Bangladeshi academic and scientist in the field of agriculture and biochemistry. He has been serving as vice-chancellor of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University, Dinajpur, since September 2008. In 1998, he was awarded an invitation fellowship from Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) to serve as a visiting professor at Hokkaido University, Japan.

Martin Schröder in an inorganic chemist. He is Vice President and Dean for the Faculty of Science and Engineering and Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Manchester since June 2015. Kalappa Muniyappa is an Indian molecular biologist and geneticist, known for his researches on the chromatization of DNA and gene targeting. He is a professor and chairman of the department of biochemistry of the Indian Institute of Science and an elected fellow of the Indian National Science Academy, Indian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences, India. Khalid Masud Gondal or Khalid Masood Gondal is the vice-chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University since July 2022. He has also served as vice-chancellor of King Edward Medical University, Lahore From June 2018 to June 2022.

Education in Jammu and Kashmir is based on 5-tier model which includes primary schools, middle schools, higher secondary schools, Colleges and University. As per the census of 2011, Jammu and Kashmir has the literacy rate of 68%. However, there has been an increase in the numbers in recent years.

Aditya Prasad Dash, who hails from the Indian State of Odisha, is an Indian biologist with special interest in malaria and vector borne diseases. His areas of interest include biomedical science, transmission biology of tropical disease, and modern biology of disease vectors. According to Vidwan, the national network for researchers and experts, Dash has authored 320 publications co-authored 699 publications. Since September 2020, Dash has been serving as the Vice Chancellor of Asian Institute of Public Health (AIPH) in Bhubaneswar. Before joining AIPH, he was the Vice Chancellor of Central University of Tamil Nadu during the period from August 2015 to August 2020. He had also worked at the World Health Organization (WHO) as the Regional Advisor for the South-East Region. He has also worked as the Director of the National Institute of Malaria Research (NIMR), New Delhi, of the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar and of the National Institute for Research on Tribal Health, Jabalpur.

Rajinder Singh Chib is a former Indian Air Force officer turned politician from Jammu and Kashmir and member of Democratic Azad Party. Chib served as Health Minister in the Jammu and Kashmir cabinet from 1987 to 1990. On 3 October 2022, Chib was appointed as General Secretary for Democratic Azad Party.
