Akec Tong Aleu

General Akech Tong Aleu is the Director General of the National Security Service Bureau of the Government of South Sudan.

Gen. Akech Tong Aleu began his public service as the Commissioner of Tonj South County, Warrap State in 2012 before serving as Deputy Governor of Warrap State from in the year 2012 to August 2015.

He briefly held the position of caretaker Governor of Warrap State from August to December 2015.

Following the creation of 28 states by President Salva Kiir in October 2015, Gen. Akech became the first Governor of the newly established Tonj State.

Earlier in 2018, Gen. Akech Tong Aleu served as Minister of Cabinet Affairs in Warrap State playing a critical role in regional decision-making.

Between April 2024 to late September, Gen. Akech served as the Undersecretary for Veteran Affairs at the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs.

On October 2nd 2024, in a presidential decree read on South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), President Kiir appointed Gen. Akech as the Director General of the National Security Service’s (NSS) Internal Bureau.

General Saeed Chawul Lom is a South Sudanese police chief who was Inspector General of the police. Lom was appointed in 2017 by a presidential decree issued by President Salva Kiir following the sacking of General Makur Marol Adout. Lom served 11 months as the head of South Sudan police before his removal from office by a presidential decree. Lom had served as commissioner of police in the newly created Jubek State. Prior to the creation of the state of South Sudan, Lom worked in Khartoum for several years where he was dismissed three times for breach of police work ethics and conflict of interest. He was reinstated into the South Sudan police services along with other dismissed generals during the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).

Akon International Airport is planned airport in the Akon Village of Gogrial West County, Warrap State, South Sudan.

Between August 8 and 9, 2020, clashes broke out between soldiers of the South Sudan People's Defence Forces (SSPDF) and Luanyjang gelweng in Romic, Tonj East, Warrap State, South Sudan during a disarmament process outlined in the peace process after the South Sudanese Civil War.
