Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film Sati Sulochana directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded South India Movietone in Bangalore.

Koormavatara is a 2011 Indian Kannada drama film directed by Girish Kasaravalli, based on short story of the same name written by Kum. Veerabhadrappa. It stars Shikaripura Krishnamurthy, Jayanthi and Apoorva Kasaravalli in the lead roles, and Harish Raj, Cheswa, Rashmi Sumukha, Goa Dattu and Sumukha Bharadwaj feature in supporting roles. Saad Khan is an Indian director, screenwriter and acting teacher and Improv comedian who works in films and web series. He is the founder and creative head of FirstAction Studios that recently merged with Mumbai-based media conglomerate Rainshine Entertainment. Khan is known for his Kannada-English feature film Humble Politician Nograj (2018), which became a hit and the first Kannada film to achieve world-wide digital audience presence on Amazon's PrimeVideo platform.
Devara Maga is a 2000 Kannada-language drama film directed by D. Rajendra Babu and written by Mysore Harish. The film stars Shiva Rajkumar and Ambareesh, along with Laila and Bhanupriya in supporting roles. Darshan plays a supporting role in his only movie with Shiva Rajkumar.

The film stars Danish Sait, who plays the title character of Nograj, a narcissistic politician. The film was produced by Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah, Hemanth M Rao and Rakshit Shetty under the banners Pushkar Films, Lost & Found Films, and Paramvah Studios, respectively. The movie was inspired by the 2012 American movie The Campaign.

Honeymoon is an Indian Kannada-language romantic comedy series created and produced by Sakkath Studios and it premiered on Voot. Series is first venture of Shiva Rajkumar's production house Shree Muthu Cine Services. Actor Nagabhushana co-wrote the series and features in the lead in the series with Sanjana Anand. The series tells the story of a newly-wed couple, on their honeymoon in Kerala. Series completed in 2019 and released the Telugu dubbed in version in aha while Original Kannada version released on Voot Select on 20 May 2022.
