The Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Education [1] is the state government's ministry tasked with overseeing the education sector in the state, policy formulation and control over Primary, Secondary and State-owned Tertiary Institutions in consonance with the National Policy on Education, and monitoring and evaluation of educational programmes to ensure quality.

The education sector in Akwa Ibom State has seen monumental strides owing particularly to the free, compulsory and qualitative education initiated by the Godswill Akpabio administration where the cost of education in Primary and Secondary school is free. [2] [3]

Akwa Ibom State State in Nigeria

Akwa Ibom State is a state in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered on the east by Cross River State, on the west by Rivers State and Abia State, and on the south by the Atlantic Ocean. The state takes its name from the Kwa Iboe River which bisects the state before flowing into the Bight of Bonny. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel

Udom Gabriel Emmanuel is a Nigerian politician who is currently the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, in office since 29 May 2015. He contested for the office of governor in the April 2015 elections on the platform of People's Democratic Party. He was re-elected as the governor of Akwa Ibom State on 29 May 2019.

Bassey Albert Akpan is a Nigerian politician who has been a member of the Senate of Nigeria since June 2015. Previously, he was Commissioner of Finance in Akwa Ibom State from 2007 to 2014. He was first elected to the Senate in March 2015, to represent Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District and he won re-election for a second time in the February 2019 senatorial elections. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party.

Akon Etim Eyakenyi is a Nigerian politician. She is the current senator representing Akwa Ibom south senatorial district in Akwa Ibom State. She was elected into the senate during the 2019 general elections of Nigeria. She won with a total vote of 122,412. Before being elected into the senate she was the former Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development during the regime of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat is a government office complex at Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. It was named for the former governor, Idongesit Nkanga.

The Universal Basic Education Commission simply known as UBEC is a Nigeria's Federal government Agency that has the mandate to formulate and coordinate all programmes of the Universal Basic Education programme prescribe the minimum standards for basic education in Nigeria. The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) was established by the Compulsory, Free Universal Basic Education and Other Related Matters Act of 2004 to eradicate illiteracy, ignorance and poverty as well as to stimulate and accelerate national development, political consciousness and national integration to fulfil the national philosophy and goals of education which underlines with the country’s aspiration to social, economic and political development.
