Alfred Freddie "Al" Denson (born January 2, 1942) is a former American football wide receiver who played collegiately at Florida A&M University, and professionally for eight seasons, for the Denver Broncos of the American Football League (AFL), and the National Football League's Broncos and Minnesota Vikings. He was drafted by the Broncos in the sixth round of the 1964 AFL Draft and by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round of the 1964 NFL Draft, but chose to sign with Denver.
Denison made limited starts in his first two seasons, combining for 485 yards in nine games over those seasons with one touchdown. In 1966, he showed promise with 36 catches for 725 yards with three touchdowns in his first full year. The following year, he led the league in touchdowns with 11 on 46 receptions for 899 yards. The following year, he made just seven starts while catching 34 passes for 586 yards and five touchdowns. He improved in 1969, catching 53 passes for 809 yards for 10 touchdowns.
In 1970, his last with the Broncos, he started each game and caught 47 passes for 646 yards with two touchdowns. After the season, he moved to Minnesota. He made appearances in seven games but caught just ten passes in that span for no touchdowns. At the age of 29, he retired from the league.

He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 1991 NFL Draft, and also played for the NFL's New York Giants.

He played college football for the University of Illinois, and was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round, 124th overall of the 2003 NFL Draft. Lloyd also played for the Washington Redskins, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, St. Louis Rams and New England Patriots.
Larry Craig Morton is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 18 seasons, primarily with the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos. He played college football at California, receiving All-American honors, and was selected by the Cowboys fifth overall in the 1965 NFL Draft. Following nine seasons on the Cowboys, a quarterback controversy with Roger Staubach led to Morton joining the New York Giants for three seasons. Morton spent his final six seasons as a member of the Broncos, where he won NFL Comeback Player of the Year and AFC Offensive Player of the Year in 1977. After his 1982 retirement, he became a 1992 inductee of the College Football Hall of Fame. He was also named to the Broncos Ring of Fame in 1988.
Marlin Oliver Briscoe, nicknamed "The Magician", is a former American football quarterback and wide receiver. In October 1968, after being drafted by the Denver Broncos of the American Football League (AFL), he became the first black starting quarterback in professional American football and established a Denver rookie record of 14 touchdown passes that season. He played professionally for nine years.

Francis Joseph Tripucka was an American gridiron football quarterback who played professionally for 15 seasons. He spent four seasons in the National Football League (NFL), eight in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and four in the American Football League (AFL). Tripucka is best known as the inaugural quarterback for the AFL's Denver Broncos, whom he was a member of from 1960 to 1963. During Denver's inaugural year, Tripucka became the first NFL / AFL quarterback to throw for 3,000 yards in a season, earning him All-Star honors. He was inducted to the Broncos Ring of Fame in 1986.
William Frederick Groman was an American professional football player who was a wide receiver in the American Football League (AFL). He played college football at Heidelberg College, and played professionally for the Houston Oilers from 1960 through 1962 and was on the first two AFL championship teams. He played for the Denver Broncos in 1963, and for the Buffalo Bills in 1964 and 1965, playing on the Bills' two league championship teams. In his six years of professional football, he played on four AFL championship teams, the only man ever to do so.

Warren Wells was an American college and professional football player, who played wide receiver for five seasons, with the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders. He had success with the Raiders with one 1,000-yard season and a Pro Bowl nomination, but saw his career end because of legal troubles.

William Edward "Eddie" Royal is an American former football wide receiver and return specialist. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at Virginia Tech and was elected to its sports hall of fame in 2018. Royal has also played for the San Diego Chargers and Chicago Bears.
The 1962 San Diego Chargers season was the club's third in the American Football League. San Diego had won the AFL West with a 12–2 record in 1961, but slipped to 4–10, losing eight of their final nine games after a 3–2 start. It was their worst record to date; this would be the only time the Chargers would endure a losing season during their 10 years in the AFL.
