Alain Desrochers is a Canadian film director and screenwriter. [1] Desrochers studied first at St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu College in the early 1980s and then at Concordia University earning himself a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the end of the decade. He began his career by directing music videos and television commercials. He got his big break directing several episodes of the TV series The Hunger . His first feature film La Bouteille (2000) earned him a nomination for the Genie Award for Best Achievement in Direction. His second feature, the action film Nitro , was very successful at the Quebec box office and beat out several American blockbusters in its opening weekend. [2]

The film stars Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge as Max, a former drag racer who is forced to return to his criminal past when his girlfriend requires a heart transplant. The film also stars Lucie Laurier as Morgane, a female drag racer who assists Max in his quest to locate a suitable organ for his girlfriend's surgery.

Bon Cop, Bad Cop 2 is a 2017 Canadian action comedy film directed by Alain Desrochers. It was released in May 2017. A sequel to the 2006 film Bon Cop, Bad Cop, it stars Colm Feore and Patrick Huard in a reprisal of their original roles. The original took its title as Canadian cinema's most lucrative production, earning $12 million in 2007. Both bilingual films have been successful on the Canadian scene, with the sequel, filmed in Montreal, coming in at $7 million at the box office. The film was also nominated for Achievement in Make-up at the Canadian Screen Awards, 2018.

The Bottle is a Canadian comedy-drama film, directed by Alain Desrochers and released in 2000. The film stars Réal Bossé and François Papineau as Réal and François, two longtime friends who decide to recover a beer bottle, containing a paper on which they wrote down their hopes and dreams for the future, which they buried 15 years earlier in the back yard of Antoine, a grumpy old man.

Nitro Rush is a Canadian action drama film, directed by Alain Desrochers and released in 2016. A sequel to his 2007 film Nitro, the film stars Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge reprising his role as Max, who is now in prison for murdering a police officer. One day a mysterious woman shows up to solicit his help in breaking up a criminal gang in which his son Théo has gotten involved, leading him to break out of prison and join forces with gang leader Daphné to steal the formula for a new rave drug.
