Alan Gregg is a New Zealand musician, originally from Palmerston North, now based in London. [1] Originally a keyboard player, Alan has mainly played bass guitar in his professional life. After moving to Auckland, New Zealand, Alan was a member of the Dribbling Darts of Love before joining The Mutton Birds [2] , which he was part of from 1992 to 1998 (and again, returning for live shows, in 2001). In The Mutton Birds he contributed bass, vocals, keyboards and wrote a number of songs. After leaving the Mutton Birds, he acted as a producer and studio and touring musician before recording his first solo album, under the name Marshmallow in 2002. [3] Other musicians on the album included Bic Runga, Ron Sexsmith, and Andrew Claridge. [4]

In 2007, after hearing them singing through the wall of a rehearsal studio, Alan Gregg joined Cy Winstanley and Ange Boxall in The Desert Downtown, which also includes drummer Steve Brookes. [5]

Alan has appeared as a musician on albums by artists such as Dave Dobbyn, and Bic Runga. He produced, 'Brand New', the second album by New Zealand band The Stereo Bus. [6]

In 2024 Gregg introduced a new project Polite Company. [7] A debut single 'Circulation' was released in April 2024 [8] , followed by another single 'Barefoot Billionaire' and an album 'Please Go Wild' [9]

From 1996 to 2000 the group were based in England; they returned to New Zealand and then disbanded in 2002.

Three Leaning Men were a New Zealand 1980s indie band from Palmerston North who recorded one LP, Fun in the Key of E, released by Meltdown Records. The band's debut performance was supporting Sneaky Feelings at the Massey University Social Hall. They also supported Hunters and Collectors, the Chills and New Order.

Ross Elliott Burge is a New Zealand musician, who started playing drums with the Nelson College rock band Mandias in 1973. He decided that this was to be the life for him, and called the NZPO to ensure back-up. Stellar is a New Zealand pop rock band led by vocalist Boh Runga, sister of acclaimed recording artist Bic Runga. They have had four RIANZ top 10 singles and two No. 1 albums. The band's signature song is "Violent", which at the 2000 New Zealand Music Awards won the Single of the Year award, as well as winning Runga an award for best Songwriter. The band won seven awards, among them the Best Album award for their debut, Mix. This was followed up by 2001's Magic Line and 2006's Something Like Strangers. The band officially disbanded in 2010 after releasing their greatest hits compilation, and reformed in 2017.
