Alasdair Locke

Alasdair Locke is the former chairman of the Scottish oil services company Abbot Group, which has rigs in Africa (Libya), the North Sea, Sakhalin Island, and other areas. [1] He was designated Scotland Overall and Master Entrepreneur Of The Year in 1999, [2] and received the International Business Achievement Award from the Scottish Business Achievement Award Trust in 2007. [3]

Mr. Locke stepped down as Executive Chairman of Abbot Group in November 2009. Locke reportedly has interest in both development and the insurance sector, which he will maintain. [4]

Alasdair Locke and his stepson, Alex Christou, co-founded Glenrinnes Distillery, which is located in Glenrinnes, Scotland. [5] In July 2019, Locke and his stepson introduced Organic Speyside Vodka and Organic Speyside Gin. The pair 's goal, backed by an investment of £4 million, is to create an internationally recognized brand for high-quality white spirits. [6]

Locke's career started in investment banking with Citigroup in 1974, where he specialised in shipping and oil. [7] He holds a degree in History and Economics from the University of Oxford. [8]

Chivas Regal

Chivas Regal is a blended Scotch whisky manufactured by Chivas Brothers, which is part of Pernod Ricard. It was founded in 1786, with its home being in the Strathisla distillery at Keith, Moray in Speyside, Scotland, and is the oldest continuously operating Highland distillery.

Speyburn Distillery in Rothes, Moray, Scotland, was founded in 1897 by John Hopkins & Company for the sum of £17,000. The site was chosen by John Hopkins himself for its unpolluted water supply from the Granty Burn, a minor tributary of the River Spey. Hopkins appointed the famous distillery architect Charles C Doig to design the distillery and to this day Speyburn has its classic pagoda ventilator, a hallmark of Doig's design.

Dalwhinnie distillery

Dalwhinnie distillery, situated in the Highland village of Dalwhinnie in Scotland, produces single malt Scotch whisky. Dalwhinnie refers to its own whisky as a Highland Whisky, as the Speyside region is wholly within the Highlands and so Speyside distilleries can be legally labelled as either Highland or Speyside under SWA regulations. A number of other Speyside distilleries also label their whisky Highland such as Macallan, Glenfarclas and Aberlour. Dalwhinnie is owned by Diageo.

The Glenglassaugh distillery is a malt scotch whisky distillery which restarted production in November 2008 after being acquired by an independent investment group. Following a complete refurbishment by the new owners the distillery was re-opened on 24 November 2008 by the First Minister for Scotland Alex Salmond.

BenRiach distillery

The BenRiach distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery in the Speyside area of Scotland. It is currently owned by Brown-Forman Corporation after being purchased on 1 June 2016 as a subsidiary from the BenRiach Distillery Company Limited, formed by two South African funding partners, Geoff Bell and Wayne Keiswetter, and Scotch whisky expert Billy Walker. In 2008, the company expanded their portfolio with the acquisition of the Glendronach distillery. as well as the Glenglassaugh distillery in March 2013.

The Catoctin Creek Distilling Company, which operates under the trade name of Catoctin Creek, is the first legal distillery in Loudoun County, Virginia since prohibition. The distillery is a certified organic and kosher microdistillery in Purcellville, Virginia that produces brandy, rye whiskey, and gin from local fruit, organic grain and Virginia wine.

English whisky is whisky produced in England. At least eight distilleries currently produce it, and there are 26 whisky distilleries across England in various stages of development. Though England is not well known for whisky, distillers operated in London, Liverpool and Bristol until the late 19th century, after which production of English single malt whisky ceased until 2003. Since then, English whisky has experienced a resurgence in production.

Tomintoul distillery

The distillery was founded in 1964. It doubled in capacity when two extra stills were installed in 1974, and started bottling single malt whisky in that year. It produces a range of single malts of different ages, a peated malt, and a vintage malt. The distillery is owned and operated by Angus Dundee Distillers, PLC, of London, England, which also owns and operates the Glencadam distillery.
