Albrecht Metzger was editor of the SDR youth program Jour Fix and moderator of Diskuss and Teamwörk in the 1970s before he became known to a broader public through the rock music program Rockpalast of the WDR. From 1974 he was the first presenter of the studio broadcasts. Together with Alan Bangs he was the presenter of the long Rockpalast Nacht events, in which he presented the bands with the famous announcement "German television proudly presents – Liebe Freunde, heute bei uns zu Gast live im Rockpalast: …". In 1977, Metzger moved from Stuttgart to West Berlin and until 1982 played the social worker Rocky in the play Mensch ich lieb dich doch in the children's and youth theatre Rote Grütze .
As author and director, Metzger shot more than 40 documentary films for the ARD.
As a cabaret artist, Metzger founded the Schwabenoffensive Berlin in Berlin in 1988. He toured Germany's cabarets with his solo programme Spätzle liebt Bulette.

Rockpalast is a German music television show that broadcasts live on German television station Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). Rockpalast started in 1974 and continues to this day. Hundreds of rock, heavy metal and jazz bands have performed on Rockpalast. Some acts were recorded for broadcast and for retail sale. All-night marathon shows called “Rock Night” (Rocknacht) were produced once or twice a year from 1977 through 1986 and simulcast throughout Europe via the Eurovision network of TV broadcasters, thereby reaching around 25 million listeners on average. Rockpalast is involved in several German pop, rock and underground music festivals, once sponsoring the Bizarre-Festival.
Gerd Ruge was a German journalist, author and filmmaker. As a journalist he was associated with public broadcasters Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk (NWDR), ARD and WDR. Through his career spanning over 50 years, he reported from many countries including the former Soviet Union, China, the United States, and Afghanistan. He was the first German journalist with a visa to work in Yugoslavia, and the first correspondent for national television ARD in Moscow. He was ARD correspondent in the U.S. from 1964 and 1969, where he reported after the assassination of both Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy. Wire on the Box: 1979 is a live album and DVD by English rock band Wire. Whilst recorded in 1979, it was released on 4 October 2004 as the first in a series of archival releases on Wire's own Pinkflag label. It features the complete live television recording for the German Rockpalast music television show, broadcast by Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). The live set consists largely of tracks from 1978's Chairs Missing and the then-yet-to-be-released 154, and is the second live recording to be released from Wire's original phase since 1981's Document and Eyewitness.
