Alex Flinn is an American former college football quarterback who played for the East Carolina Pirates.
Flinn grew up in Fletcher, North Carolina and attended A. C. Reynolds High School where he lettered in football and baseball. In his high school career, Flinn completed 534 of his 829 pass attempts for 7,431 yards, 76 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. Flinn would also rush for 1,088 yards and 24 touchdowns, while also hauling in nine receptions for 68 yards. [1] He was rated a three-star recruit and committed to play college football at East Carolina. [2]
Flinn was redshirted during his true freshman season in 2019 and was on the developmental roster. During the 2020 season, he earned inclusion on the weekly dress-out roster but did not play in a game due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the 2021 season, he earned inclusion on the weekly dress-out roster for the second year in a row and did not play in a game. During the 2022 season, he appeared in two games and finished the season by logging five snaps. [3]
During the 2023 season, Flinn was named the starting quarterback during the Week 3 game against Appalachian State. He finished the game with completing 17 out of 31 passing attempts for 158 yards with three interceptions along with one solo stop. [4] During the Week 4 game against Gardner–Webb, he completed eight out of 18 passing attempts for 94 yards with a touchdown. [5] During the Week 5 game against Rice, he completed a career high 21 out of 44 passing attempts for 246 yards with an interception. [6] During the Week 9 game against Tulane, Flinn completed a 10/18 throwing stat line with 125 total yards along with leading the team with a 13 play and 71 yard drive game. [7] [8]
On January 23, 2024, Flinn announced that he would move on from football and forgo his final year of eligibility. [9]

The 2007 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl was a post-season college football bowl game between the Boise State University Broncos from the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and the East Carolina University Pirates from Conference USA (C-USA). This sixth edition of the Hawaii Bowl, sponsored by Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, was played at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu on December 23, 2007. The game was the final competition of the 2007 football season for each team and resulted in a 41–38 East Carolina victory, even though sportsbooks favored Boise State to win by 10+1⁄2 points. Many experts believed East Carolina to be big underdogs to Boise State, which had defeated the Oklahoma Sooners in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. The 2007 Hawaiʻi Bowl paid $750,000 to each team's conference in exchange for their participation.

The 2010 Liberty Bowl was a college football postseason bowl game played at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee, on January 2, 2010. The 51st edition of the Liberty Bowl matched the Arkansas Razorbacks of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) against the East Carolina Pirates, the Conference USA Champion. With sponsorship from AutoZone, the game was officially the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. Arkansas won, 20–17, in the first Liberty Bowl to go into overtime.
Taylor Jonathan Yates is an American football coach and former player who is the quarterbacks coach for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). He played professionally as a quarterback in the NFL. After playing college football for the North Carolina Tar Heels, Yates was selected by the Houston Texans in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL draft. He was also a member of the Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins, and Buffalo Bills.

Sponsored by the Beef 'O' Brady's restaurant franchise, it was the sixth edition of the game formerly known as the St. Petersburg Bowl. It featured the Ohio Bobcats of the Mid-American Conference against the East Carolina Pirates of Conference USA. It was one of the 2013–14 bowl games that concluded the 2013 FBS football season. The game began at 2:00 p.m. EST and aired on ESPN. East Carolina defeated Ohio, 37–20, by scoring 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Shane Michael Carden is a former American football quarterback, and current Wood River High School head football coach. He was the MVP of Conference USA as a Junior while playing quarterback for East Carolina in 2013 and the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year during his Senior year in 2014. After his college career at ECU he was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2015.
