Alexandra Clair Lee [1] is an Australian comedian, writer, actor, and television presenter. She has appeared in a range of comedy television series on the ABC and SBS, including The Feed and several programs by The Chaser team. She is also the host of the ABC quiz show Win the Week , starring alongside Craig Reucassel.

Early life

Lee was born to an Australian mother and a Chinese father, who met in Sydney in 1975. [2] She grew up in Southern Sydney, [1] and studied journalism at the University of Sydney. [3]

Career

Lee began her career in journalism, as a producer for ABC News 24. She took part in the Walkley Foundation's Australia-Korea Media Exchange Program, [4] and later became a political reporter for BuzzFeed. [5] Having performed in comedy shows at university, she became a presenter and writer for the ABC's satirical news program The Roast in 2014.

Having collaborated with The Chaser on The Roast, Lee went on to appear in The Chaser's Media Circus , The Checkout , and The Chaser’s Election Desk . [3] [6] In 2017, Lee starred in Michelle Law's play Single Asian Female. [7] [8] Since 2018, Lee has also been featured as a presenter and comedy actor on The Feed . A segment she presented about retiring radio shock-jock Alan Jones prompted a lawsuit from Jones in 2020. [9]

Lee was a writer and cast member for Rove McManus' short-lived variety show Saturday Night Rove in 2019. In 2021, Lee was announced as the host for Win the Week , appearing alongside Craig Reucassel in a new quiz show airing on the ABC. [10] [11]

Lee is also a regular player on Dragon Friends, a Dungeons & Dragons -themed podcast and live show. [6]

Personal life

Lee has a husband, and she gave birth to a son in 2019. [12]

Craig Bruce Reucassel is an Australian television and radio comedian. He is best known for being a member of satirical team The Chaser. He hosted the Australian version of Balls of Steel, which premiered in April 2011. Since 2013, Reucassel and fellow Chaser Julian Morrow have been main presenters on the ABC program The Checkout. In 2017, Reucassel presented the four-part ABC TV series War on Waste which focused on clothing and food waste in Australia, its environmental impacts and what can be done to help reduce waste. This was followed by a second series, Fight For Planet A: Our Climate Challenge in 2018, which focused on the use of plastics, and particularly 'single-use' plastics such as straws. Alongside publishing the program, Big Weather And How To Survive It (2020): an exploration of how to survive extreme weather events, Reucassel directed the two-part ABC TV series Big Deal (2021). The series presented by actor Christian Van Vuuren, investigated the influence of lobbying and donations on Australia's political system.

The Chaser election specials are a number of Australian political satire based comedy programs produced by The Chaser. The shows, which have run under various titles, provide commentary on Australian federal election and has been produced since 2001 for ABC TV. The first show, The Election Chaser in 2001 was the first ever television production of the Chaser team. In 2004 and 2007 they produced The Chaser Decides which won the Logie Award for "Most Outstanding Comedy Program" for the 2004 series. In 2010, the Chaser team produced a 5-episode series about the 2010 election, called Yes We Canberra!. A new series was produced for the 2013 election, called The Hamster Decides.The Chaser's Election Desk aired in the six weeks prior to the 2016 federal election.

He is best known for his work on television as a former regular co-host of The Project on Network Ten from January 2014 to December 2022, replacing previous presenter Dave Hughes to host alongside Carrie Bickmore, Waleed Aly and Lisa Wilkinson. The Chaser's War on Everything is an Australian television satirical comedy series broadcast on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) television station ABC1. It has won an Australian Film Institute Award for Best Television Comedy Series. The cast perform sketches mocking social and political issues, and often feature comedic publicity stunts. The series is produced by The Chaser, an Australian satirical group consisting of Chris Taylor, Julian Morrow, Craig Reucassel, Andrew Hansen, and Chas Licciardello. Fellow Chaser members Dominic Knight and Charles Firth are not part of the regular on-screen cast. However, Knight is a writer, and Firth compiled roving reports for the show from the United States, until he left the group to start a satirical newspaper in mid-2007.
