Alexis Savaidis (born 1983) is an Australian radio personality.

Savaidis has previously been co-host of the Hot30 Countdown and Take 40 Australia on the Today Network. [1]

Career

Savaidis began her radio career at 5YYY FM, Whyalla, South Australia, a community radio station. [2] She then progressed through a series of positions at radio stations around Australia including 5CS (Port Pirie), 104.7 (Canberra) and SAFM (Adelaide), where she became operations manager. [3]

While at SAFM Savaidis was awarded the Austereo Adelaide Award for having the highest rating FM shift in Adelaide, her third Austereo award. [4]

In 2006, Savaidis battled throat nodules which threatened her career. [5]

In May 2011, Alexis married partner Matt Kuchel.

Jacintha Saldanha was an Indian nurse who worked at King Edward VII's Hospital in the City of Westminster, London. On 7 December 2012, she was found dead by suicide, three days after falling for a prank phone call as part of a radio stunt. In the prank call, the hosts of the Australian radio programme Hot30 Countdown, broadcast on the Southern Cross Austereo owned station 2Day FM in Sydney, called Saldanha's hospital and impersonated the Queen and the Prince of Wales enquiring about the health of Catherine, Princess of Wales, who was a patient there at the time. Saldanha fell for the hoax and transferred the call to the nurse looking after the Duchess.
